Talascend is currently seeking a Cost Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Chandler, Arizona.

Overview

This role involves managing cost engineering and cost analysis activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements, requiring a high level of technical expertise. The cost engineer will prepare reconciliations, review trends, and develop project cost control strategies to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

Establish, maintain, and monitor project budgets, change management, and cost reports
Verify consistency across reports to ensure accuracy and compatibility
Prepare and ensure the accuracy of project cash flow and revenue earnings
Assist with project audits and ensure accuracy in cost coding of budgets and actuals
Perform budget allocations according to standards and procedures
Identify trends and support change control processes
Prepare cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost comparisons
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or international equivalent
8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Experience in change management, cost trend estimates, and project controls
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interpret technical and non-technical scope impacts
Experience in executing, monitoring, and evaluating cost engineering activities
Thorough knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes
Ability to provide guidance and coaching to junior cost engineers
Experience with cost studies, statistical analysis, and cost/quantity comparisons
Demonstrated flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and changing priorities
