Job Description
The Maintenance Technician supports a high-volume manufacturing center by performing preventive maintenance and repairs on mainline equipment used in shearing, forging, heat treating, and assembly processes. This role focuses on keeping production equipment operating safely and efficiently, while driving continuous improvements that increase uptime and overall equipment effectiveness. The technician also maintains facility systems such as overhead doors, plumbing, lighting, hoists, and parts handling systems, and uses strong mechanical and electrical skills to troubleshoot issues across a wide range of industrial machinery.
Responsibilities
* Perform preventive maintenance on mainline equipment that supports shearing, forging, heat treating, and assembly processes to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
* Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on shears, punch presses, furnaces, conveyors, and other production equipment.
* Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics to diagnose issues and plan repairs or modifications.
* Maintain and repair facility systems including overhead doors, plumbing, lighting, hoists, and parts handling systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
* Diagnose and resolve issues involving DC drives, AC frequency drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, switches, and control systems.
* Use a multimeter to safely troubleshoot 480V power circuits and control wiring, including three-phase systems.
* Perform welding and fabrication work, as well as basic machine shop tasks, to repair components and implement equipment improvements.
* Conduct PLC troubleshooting to identify control-related faults and support the reliable operation of automated equipment.
* Document maintenance activities, repairs, and improvements to support equipment history and continuous improvement efforts.
* Collaborate with another maintenance technician and production personnel to prioritize work orders and respond promptly to equipment breakdowns.
* Identify and implement improvements to manufacturing processes and equipment to increase uptime, efficiency, and reliability.
* Follow all safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements while working on electrical, mechanical, and high-temperature equipment.
* Support shift coverage needs by working assigned 2nd shift hours and participating in overtime as required by production demands.
* Complete all required tasks and performance expectations during the 90-day probationary period to demonstrate proficiency and reliability.
Essential Skills
* 12 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience working on machinery or equipment.
* Hands-on mechanical experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, furnaces, gears, pulleys, drives, chains, and motors.
* Electrical experience working with systems up to 480V, including three-phase power, sensors, switches, AC/DC drives, and VFDs, ideally with at least 2 years of experience.
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
* Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems in an industrial environment.
* Proficiency using a multimeter to safely diagnose issues in 480V power circuits and control wiring.
* Experience with preventive maintenance practices in an industrial maintenance setting.
* Industrial maintenance experience with PLC troubleshooting and basic understanding of programmable controllers.
* Ability to perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment components.
* Basic machine shop skills to support repairs and equipment improvements.
* Comfort working with industrial furnaces, shears, punch presses, and other heavy manufacturing equipment.
* Ability to work effectively on a 2nd shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
* Capability to work safely in hot, dirty, noisy, and confined environments within a manufacturing facility.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices and procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Technical or associate degree in an industrial, electrical, or mechanical discipline, which may count toward required years of experience.
* Experience using personal computers for basic documentation, maintenance records, or interfacing with equipment controls.
* Prior experience working with hoists, parts handling systems, and overhead doors in a manufacturing environment.
* Familiarity with continuous improvement concepts and implementing equipment or process enhancements.
* Ability to work collaboratively with another maintenance technician and production staff in a small team setting.
* Willingness to participate in a structured pay advancement program tied to performance and tenure.
* Reliability and consistency in attendance to qualify for attendance-based recognition programs.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $72800.00/yr.
