Job Description

This full-time General Production Worker role supports a growing wall panel production division in a wood-processing manufacturing environment in Delaware. You will work on the production floor assembling and fabricating structural components, using hand and power tools and tape measures throughout your shift. The position is a 3month contract-to-hire opportunity, with comprehensive training, onboarding, and mentorship to help you quickly become confident in your daily responsibilities. Candidates with minimal experience are welcome, provided they bring strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities
* Work on the production floor in the wall panel division, supporting daily manufacturing and assembly operations.
* Use a tape measure frequently and accurately throughout an 810 hour shift to measure materials and components.
* Operate and handle a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently for cutting, fastening, and assembling materials.
* Assist in the fabrication of engineered wood products, trusses, wall panels, and other structural components for commercial construction projects.
* Follow shop details, job instructions, and production drawings to ensure products meet quality and specification requirements.
* Maintain a strong focus on safety and quality, adhering to all facility safety protocols and guidelines.
* Participate in the companys training and mentorship programs, learning from tenured employees and applying feedback to improve performance.
* Support department production goals by working collaboratively with team members and other departments such as Engineering, Quality, and Fabrication.
* Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards to promote a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.
* Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers regarding job status, material needs, and any issues that may impact production.
* Demonstrate reliability and punctuality by consistently arriving on time and ready to work for scheduled shifts and overtime.
* Work independently with minimal supervision once trained, taking ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
* Adapt to changing priorities and production demands, including seasonal increases in workload and overtime when scheduled.
* Contribute to a positive team environment by maintaining an optimistic attitude, supporting coworkers, and fostering strong working relationships.

Essential Skills
* Comfortable using a tape measure frequently and accurately during an 810 hour shift.
* Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand basic mechanical processes and tools.
* Proven ability and experience using hand tools and power tools in a production, construction, or similar environment.
* Strong safety and quality orientation, with motivation to achieve excellence in both areas.
* Ability to read and understand shop details and job instructions.
* Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and willingness to help achieve department production goals.
* Capability to work overtime when scheduled, including 10 to 15 hours of overtime during peak seasons such as spring.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision after training.

Work Environment

The role is based in a wood-processing, manufacturing operation that supplies engineered wood products, structural components, and construction systems to the commercial construction industry across North America. The facility has multiple production buildings, warehouses for shipping, receiving, and material storage, and departments including Production, Engineering, Quality, and Fabrication. There are roughly 100 employees working across one shift, with capacity to add a second shift in the future. Some buildings are climate controlled, but most of the production floor is not, and dock doors are often open for shipments, with material handling equipment and production machinery in regular use. You may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions, including variations in temperature and precipitation, and much of the work is performed in non-climate-controlled environments. Standard 1st shift schedules include MondayFriday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and MondayThursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with 10 to 15 hours of overtime on off days when spring and peak seasons begin. Orientation for new hires is held on Mondays at 8:00 a.m., and the role starts as a 3month contract-to-hire position within a structured, safety-focused manufacturing setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
