Job Sub Title: Chemical Process Operator

Job Description

Join our team as a Chemical Process Operator, where you will be responsible for tending to equipment and semi-automatic processes for chemical substances used in industrial or consumer products. You will work at a small chemical packaging site, handling materials and following batch sheets for chemical formulations.

Responsibilities
* Tend equipment and manage semi-automatic processes for chemical substances.
* Work as an operator and material handler in a small chemical packaging site.
* Follow batch sheets and recipes for chemical formulations.
* Lift chemical bags weighing up to 50 lbs repetitively.
* Inspect work areas and equipment to detect leaks or malfunctions.
* Shut down equipment when necessary and notify maintenance or engineering.
* Operate sit-down forklifts to move materials and bring containers for processing.
* Learn and label products, use computer software to verify product content, volume, and usage.
* Weigh and measure various quantities of solids, powders, and liquids for blending.
* Monitor valves, pressure, and gaseous materials.
* Maintain mechanical and electronic systems related to vacuum levels.
* Observe chemical reactions and document gauges, signals, and recorders.
* Receive process change notifications from lab supervisor or other employees.

Essential Skills
* Experience operating forklifts, particularly in small spaces.
* Proficiency in chemical handling, production, and material handling.
* Ability to operate RF scanners and engage in machine operations.
* Mechanical aptitude.
* Proven skills in weights, measurements, compounding, blending, mixing, and batching.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Ability to work in a hot and inherently dirty environment.
* Excellent depth perception for reaching totes on high racks.
* Ability to wear a hooded respirator for certain tasks.
* Proven experience in operating forklifts with substantial accuracy.

Work Environment

This is a physical and dirty job where uniforms are provided. The role is on the second shift from 4 PM to 12:30 AM. You will work in a small chemical processing plant with a warehouse located about a mile away for storage. The work involves using large kitchen-aid type mixers and mechanical equipment in a smaller scale setting compared to traditional chemical plants.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
