Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining and improving the reliability of highly automated production equipment in a regulated food manufacturing environment. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, support automation and control systems, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment uptime and operational performance. This is a direct hire opportunity on 2nd shift in a brand-new, climate-controlled, high-speed food production facility.

Responsibilities
* Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks according to PM schedules and work orders within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
* Support the development, optimization, and improvement of preventive and predictive maintenance routines to enhance equipment reliability.
* Monitor and help track maintenance KPIs such as mean time to repair (MTTR), mean time between failures (MTBF), and PM compliance, and assist in implementing reliability improvement plans.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation system failures on production and packaging equipment.
* Replace, align, and adjust mechanical components such as motors, pumps, belts, bearings, and gearboxes, and repair instrumentation and control hardware as needed.
* Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future failures.
* Troubleshoot and support variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor controls, relays, sensors, and control panels in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
* Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams to support effective troubleshooting and repair.
* Assist with PLC fault diagnosis and collaborate with controls or automation engineers and vendors on complex control system issues.
* Support the installation, start-up, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and line modifications in a highly automated plant.
* Assist with qualification and validation activities required for equipment used in food manufacturing.
* Provide input on spare parts strategies, help identify critical spares, and support capital project planning from a maintenance perspective.
* Create, update, and close detailed work orders in the CMMS, ensuring accurate equipment histories and parts usage records to support audits and continuous improvement.
* Recommend appropriate parts and consumable inventory levels and assist with procurement of critical spare parts.
* Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and confined space protocols, while performing maintenance activities.
* Work safely in washdown and food production environments, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and sanitation requirements during maintenance work.
* Report and escalate hazards, near-misses, and safety incidents promptly to support a strong safety culture.
* Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to minimize downtime and support efficient operation of highly automated equipment.
* Respond to maintenance calls across the shift and support occasional weekend work as needed to maintain production schedules.

Essential Skills
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* 27+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, with food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
* Proven mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills in high-speed or automated manufacturing settings.
* Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics, including troubleshooting and repair of related components.
* Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor controls, instrumentation, and industrial control panels.
* Working familiarity with PLCs and the ability to support troubleshooting of control systems; exposure to Allen-Bradley PLCs is highly beneficial.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, ladder logic, and technical manuals.
* Experience using a CMMS (such as Fiix, Maintenance Connection, or MP2) to document work orders and maintenance activities.
* Strong understanding of electrical maintenance, including three-phase power systems and electrical troubleshooting.
* Ability to work effectively on 2nd shift and support on-call or occasional Saturday work as needed.
* Comfort working in a GMP-regulated food manufacturing environment with strict sanitation and safety standards.
* Demonstrated commitment to safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout and adherence to plant safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Technical certificate, trade school, or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechatronics, or a related field is preferred.
* Experience with automation systems, PLC control, and high-speed conveyors in a manufacturing environment.
* Exposure to Allen-Bradley PLCs and related automation hardware.
* Experience in automation maintenance within a GMP environment.
* Experience supporting new equipment installation, commissioning, and validation in a regulated industry.
* Familiarity with maintenance KPIs such as MTTR, MTBF, and PM compliance, and participation in reliability or continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality.
* Strong documentation skills for maintaining accurate records to support audits and compliance requirements.
* Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to a highly automated, brand-new production facility.

Work Environment

This role is based in a brand-new, highly automated food manufacturing plant that produces protein bars under strict GMP standards. The facility is climate controlled with both air conditioning and heat to maintain appropriate conditions for food and ingredients. The environment includes high-speed, automated production lines and conveyors, modern control systems, and new equipment throughout the plant. Training is provided on the job to help you become familiar with the equipment and processes. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday on 2nd shift, with core hours initially from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and transitioning to 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., including a 30-minute unpaid lunch; occasional Saturday work may be required based on production needs. The role requires consistent use of personal protective equipment, including a smock, hair net, beard net (if applicable), ear plugs, eye protection, and safety shoes at all times on the plant floor. For food safety and GMP compliance, no jewelry, piercings, long nails, or similar items are allowed in production areas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70720.00 - $74880.00/yr.
