This role focuses on cutting, welding, and fitting steel components to fabricate and assemble industrial systems. You will perform MIG welding on carbon steel, build cart dumps, monorail system components, and sorting systems, and use blueprints to produce accurate assemblies while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Responsibilities
* Cut, weld, and fit steel components to create structural and process assemblies.
* Perform MIG welding on carbon steel in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
* Assemble cart dumps, monorail system components, and sorting systems from fabricated steel parts.
* Read and interpret blueprints to produce precise and compliant assemblies.
* Use tape measures and other basic measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
* Work independently to complete assigned fabrication and welding tasks with minimal supervision.
* Support installation and assembly of material handling conveyor and related equipment as needed.
* Assist with rigging and handling structural steel or process pipe when required.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance fabrication quality and efficiency.
Essential Skills
* Proficiency in MIG welding on carbon steel.
* Demonstrated ability to cut, weld, and fit steel components accurately.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints to fabricate and assemble steel structures.
* Capability to read and take measurements using a tape measure with precision.
* Ability to pass a welding test using a stick welder, including bringing and using personal hood and gloves.
* Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
* Experience maintaining a clean and safe work environment in a fabrication or industrial setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Experience working in or around industrial laundries.
* Prior experience working with structural steel or process pipe.
* Previous rigging experience, including safe handling and movement of heavy materials.
* Past experience with material handling conveyor systems.
* General fabrication skills, including cutting, fitting, and assembling steel components.

Work Environment
This position operates in an industrial fabrication and assembly environment focused on steel structures, process piping, and material handling conveyor systems. Work is typically performed on a first (day) shift with normal working days per week and overtime compensated at time-and-a-half. The role involves working in or around industrial laundries and other industrial facilities, handling structural steel and process pipe, and using welding equipment, tape measures, and rigging tools. Employees are expected to follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace, wearing appropriate welding gear such as a hood and gloves and other suitable industrial attire.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
