Facility Maintenance Supervisor - 1st Shift

RCS has an immediate need for a 1st Shift Facility Maintenance Supervisor in New Haven, CT. This is a contract assignment with anticipated duration through 2/08/2017. Local candidates strongly preferred as there is no per diem and/or relocation assistance offered.

What Are You Accountable For

This position acts as a liaison with pharmaceutical client at the Clinical Research Unit; supervises a team of maintenance technicians; and also works as a technician 80% of the time. Extensive experience as a Maintenance Electrician and/or HVAC Technician is highly desired.

Technical responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, performing troubleshooting, and providing preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC, kitchen, mechanical, heating and chilled water equipment.

Leadership responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of company and subcontractor maintenance personnel performing preventive maintenance and repair work; training, coaching and mentoring subordinate staff; estimating support resource needs; assigning work orders; ensuring proper work planning with a strong focus on safety; and meeting completion dates. Influence budget, cost control, planning, scheduling, and procedural change. Initiate and communicate a variety of personnel actions, such as employment, termination, performance and salary reviews, disciplinary actions, scheduling and/or approving overtime, etc.

In addition, the Facility Maintenance Supervisor provides continuous communication and feedback pertaining to equipment service status to the client and company on hot and cold calls and critical equipment, while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

Serve as the primary contact for facilities maintenance issues and provide continuous communication back to the client with regard to systems status.
Supervise company and subcontractor Maintenance Workers to complete preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance work orders as scheduled in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Under minimal supervision, analyze and resolve work problems, assist workers in solving work problems and, utilizing personal experience and judgment, plan and attain goals.
Utilize Job Hazards Analysis (JHA) work management procedures to perform work in a safe and effective manner.
Utilize the Siemens Apogee Building Management System (BMS) to track building conditions and operate facilities equipment.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair heating and ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, dryers, compressors, and other mechanical equipment, as necessary.
Assist less experienced technicians with work assignments and coach as appropriate.
Create, review and modify PM procedures and schedules for equipment.
Participate in the Reliability Based Maintenance (RBM) program to include recommending measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
Assure that all work and regulatory inspections are in compliance to local, state and federal codes, regulations and industry standards.
Comply with and enforce company policies and safety practices, procedures and guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and the use of PPE.
Operate various measuring, diagnostic and testing tools, instruments and software to perform troubleshooting, work completion and to provide energy efficiency solutions.
Maintain a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment and meet expected client service levels as established by the Company
Be flexible in the day-to-day activities and shift scheduling for the benefit of the customerís mission.
Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Respond to emergency calls (by phone or in person) during off-hours and determine resources needed to mitigate problem (AECOM or subcontractor).
Perform other duties as assigned by the company Program Manager.

Are You Ready

High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Ten years of experience in Facilities Maintenance as a technician, planner, specialist or related technical role in an industrial environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Connecticut S1, S2, D1, D2 or OE2 license
EPA approved CFC certification.
Two years of experience in a Lead or Supervisory role.
Experience as an industrial or commercial HVAC maintenance technician with troubleshooting experience.
Knowledge and/or training in Building Management Systems and automation controls.
Working knowledge of building energy management.
Experience with HW boiler and chiller operation.
Experience working in a CMMS environment.
Proficiency with MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).
Experience managing a multi-skilled work force to deliver positive results.


Bachelorís Degree or equivalent trade school credentials preferred.
