Radiological Control Technician 3

o Associates degree or equivalent combination of training and experience in radiation protection, physics, radiobiology or related field (Required)
o 5-7 years related experience (Required)
o Certification with National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologist or eligibility for certification (Preferred)
o RCT Certification (Required)
o Active 'Q' clearance (Preferred)
o Demonstrated interpersonal skills and work ethics including reliability as an independent worker and as a team member (Required)
o Good written and oral communication skills (Required)
o Demonstrated ability and desire to assume ownership and responsibility of assigned projects, areas, and tasks (Required)
o Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge in radiation protection principles and practices (Required)
o Experience in use of protective clothing and respiratory protective equipment required (Required)
o Demonstrated experience in radiation monitoring, personnel exposure control, and other operational health physics activities (Required)
o Demonstrated experience in radiation protection training (Required)
o Knowledge of applicable Department of Energy (DOE) orders and regulations (Required)
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities
o Operate mobile x-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside
o Perform procedures such as linear tomography, mammography, sonograms, joint and cyst aspirations, routine contrast studies, routine fluoroscopy and examinations of the head, trunk, and extremities under supervision of physician
o Provide assistance to physicians or technologists in the performance of more complex procedures
o Provide routine and complex radiation support at assigned Laboratory sites Includes workplace surveillance and analysis/interpretation of radiological data
o Provide operational health physics support to facility programs as a Lead Technician for assigned function or area
o Provide direction for radiation protection activities to ensure compliance with procedures and 10 CFR 835
o Implement radiation protection procedures and apply these to a wide range of activities
o Take lead role in on-the-job training of individuals for safe operating procedures, radiation work permits, and facility design
o Assume a lead role in responding to radiological emergencies
o Act as team technician lead when needed
o Analyze, modify, and computer RWPs, SOPs, and experimental plans
