SHINE is immediately seeking a Criticality Safety Engineer Lead, reporting directly to the Vice President of Engineering, to lead the development, documentation, and oversight of criticality safety limits and controls of fissionable material involved with a medical isotope production facility.

The qualified Criticality Safety Engineer Lead will review, perform and document nuclear criticality safety evaluations (NCSE’s) to define the safety basis for fissionable material operations; review, perform and document calculations to support NCSE limits and controls; and develop/maintain the Integrated Safety Analysis and Final Safety Analysis Reporting.

SHINE is seeking candidates who are experience as a qualified nuclear criticality safety engineer (qualified in accordance with ANSI/ANS-8.26 or DOE-STD-1135-99). The preferred candidate will have at least three years of professional experience with MCNP.

Candidates should have a Bachelor or Masters of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering or related discipline. In addition, a minimum of 5 years of progressive professional experience as a qualified nuclear criticality safety engineer is required. We are expecting candidates have strong knowledge and understanding of multiple engineering disciplines, regulations and problem-solving skills. This person must be able to communicate effectively with all levels within and outside the organization.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls regulations (U.S. Citizen or National, U.S. Permanent Resident, Asylee, or Refugee). Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug test, fingerprinting, and a criminal background check.
