Performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed. Selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents. Receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed; performs recurring work independently; work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. Performs a combination of such duties as:

Constructs components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment. May troubleshoot and correct malfunctions. Develop designs and participate in the installation of code compliant electrical test assemblies, including preparation of code-compliant procurement specifications for electrical components.

Follows specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment. Develops and fabricates test mockups (e.g., code compliant electrical installation of pumps, agitators, instrumentation, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), VFDs, etc.).

Conducts various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement; selects, sets up, and operates standard test equipment and records test data.

Extracts and compiles a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc.; processes data, data loggers, identifying errors or inconsistencies; selects methods of data presentation.

Assists in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials which are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts. Develops information concerning previous operational failures and modifications. Uses judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.

Maintain MASF Assured Grounded Program in accordance with the NFPA 70.

Required Qualifications:

AA/AS, or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years field experience installing, testing and troubleshooting electrical and control systems equipment

Required to be a qualified experienced electrical technician or have electrical/instrumentation and control systems experience.

Training in control systems and electrical theory.

Competent working knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.

Must be respirator wearer qualified.

Qualified to operate class 4, 5, and 7 forklift per 29 CFR 1910.178(l).

Qualified to operate remotely operated class 1 overhead gantry cranes per OSHA 1926.1427(b), Option (1).

Demonstrated hands-on experience performing light fabrication (mechanical, I&C, electrical power, hydraulic, etc., using general fabrication equipment (drill press, band saws, portable hand tools, pipe threading, tubing bending, etc.); minimum seven years’ experience.

Demonstrated experience handling and using bulk chemicals (non-hazardous/ non-radioactive); minimum two years’ experience.

Hanford Site experience

Work Schedule is 4 10s, Monday-Thursday. Position is through 9/30/18.
