Performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed. Selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents. Receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed; performs recurring work independently; work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. Performs a combination of such duties as:
Constructs components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment including remote handling tools. May troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
Follows specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment. Develops and fabricates test mockups (e.g., code compliant pumps and racks, agitators, panel racks, long pole tools, hoses, etc.). Must be able to assemble testing equipment with tubing, piping and all mechanical materials including complete rebuild of all pumps, valves and mechanical equipment.
Conducts various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement; selects, sets up, and operates standard test equipment and records test data.
Operate forklifts, lathe and milling machines and operates overhead cranes
Operates and Conduct Ultrasonic testing (NDE) and Test Equipment
Assists in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials which are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts. Develops information concerning previous operational failures and modifications. Uses judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
AA/AS , or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years field experience installing, testing and troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
Must be trained and qualified as a respirator wearer and a respirator issuer in accordance with DOE-0352, Section 13.1.
Qualified to operate class 4, 5, and 7 forklift per 29 CFR 1910.178(l).
Qualified to operate remotely operated class 1 overhead gantry cranes per OSHA 1926.1427(b), Option (1).
Demonstrated hands-on experience performing light fabrication (mechanical and hydraulic, etc., using general fabrication equipment (drill press, band saws, portable hand tools, pipe threading, tubing bending, etc.); minimum ten years’ experience.
Demonstrated experience handling and using bulk chemicals (non-hazardous/ non-radioactive); minimum two years’ experience.
Hanford Site experience
Work schedule is 4 10s, Monday through Thursday. Position through 9/30/18.
