SHINE is immediately seeking a designer/engineer reporting to the Auxiliary Systems Manager with a well rounded background who has a proven capability to learn quickly and remain versatile.

This position focuses on Auxiliary and Balance of Plant systems including HVAC, Fire Protection, civil systems, cooling systems, electrical distribution, etc. Applicants should have experience with the design of systems from the ground up including responsibility for basic design considerations. Applicants must have fluent CAD and 3D CAD skills with recent use of SolidWorks (or similar) and AutoCAD. Successful applicants will be detail oriented with the ability to provide design recommendations to the lead engineer. System designs must ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the facility, equipment, and controls required for the production and processing of medical isotopes and fissile solutions. Experience in the nuclear industry (NRC), medical industry (FDA), or other highly regulated industry is desired.

Key responsibilities include drafting support for mechanical design development including; component drawings, facility plans (mechanical, fire protection, plumbing, electrical, etc.), PFDs/P&IDs, general details, and piping tables. Cost Estimating experience is also a plus.

We are seeking candidates with an Associate’s degree in engineering or a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of recent designer experience or a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline and a minimum of 2 years recent designer experience. Hands on experience or construction oversight in the associated fields is a plus.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls regulations (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Asylee or Refugee). Also, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards information which typically requires pre-employment drug test, fingerprinting, and a criminal background check.
