The GIS Technician will edit and transpose complex data from records, maps, AutoCAD drawings, GPS, county land base maps and other source documents into the Geographic Information System (“GIS”) and/or related systems
Read and interpret maps and other source data
Maintain asset systems data by entering as-built data into systems of record in a timely manner, maintaining pipeline records on GIS, processing GPS data, preparing and printing detailed drawings
Work on project designs by plotting routes, fittings, valves, encroachments, Right of Ways (“ROW”), preparing design field drawings, anode, valve drawings, and producing construction prints (as applicable)
Perform geocoding tasks
Perform in-depth quality review of data entered by other users and provide feedback to the users
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent
Associate’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field or equivalent work experience
2 or more years of work experience in database entry and support with experience in the use of GIS and AutoCAD
Principles and practices of GIS, GPS, and cartography
AutoCAD software and file structures, as they relate to GIS applications
Source data used to create maps
Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
GIS software (ArcGIS, Smallworld GIS)
Business and technical understanding of the application
Ability to integrate source data into systems of record
