RFQ Number 357575 Fire Protection Engineer (Alarm & Detections)
US Citizenship Required: Yes
Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Location Plans, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel Detail Drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Battery Loading Calculations in accordance with national consensus codes and standards. Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers or subcontract personnel. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, Design Build Specifications, and Purchase Requisitions.
Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Education Qualification Required
Graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum or Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection or Full member in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) or NICET Level III certification in the applicable subfield
Experience/Skills Qualification Required
Eight years recent design experience, four (4) of which shall include alarm & detection systems design General knowledge of electrical/control systems, connection diagrams, layout plans, logic diagrams, panel layout details, P&ID’s, and battery loading calculations
Working knowledge of National Consensus Codes and Standards applicable to fire detection and alarm systems experience with 2D Microstation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) ability to use Windows Microsoft Office applications
Ability to perform field walk-downs
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” security clearance
Previous SRS Design Engineering experience is preferred.
Area Security Access:
Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate, assumed to be uncleared, will be given the opportunity to apply for a DOE clearance.
A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Workweek excludes SRNS holidays. SRNS Management will determine best schedule depending on work needs. Each workday has an unpaid 30-minute lunch break.
