Responsible for coordinating geographically diverse and international design team members to develop supporting design documentation. The design team members include in-house and subcontracted resources and may include partner/customer resources as well. Responsible for all phases of design, construction and testing of assigned refueling equipment.
Develop procurement specifications (including equipment specifications, critical characteristics, and associated material) as necessary to communicate technical workscope. Workscope may include systems/sub-systems, equipment, components, materials and processes.
Develop Project planning to execute projects to meet program objectives.
Support supplier selection activities and team review/selection processes.
Provide technical direction and oversight of supplier projects, working with the contract administrator to ensure delivery of data and other deliverables to meet companies requirements.
Coordinate company technical review process of supplier deliverables and ensure appropriate responses.
Manage technical interfaces between supplier projects and interfacing projects/activities within the Company.
Provide support to contract administration and commercial activities as needed to implement projects.
Maintain awareness of supplier technical capabilities, organization changes and relationships to ensure positive feedback to companies interests.
Ensure Supplier performance to established Quality programs.
Key Qualifications and Skills
The successful applicant should have at least a BS degree in engineering with 10 years or more relevant design and project management experience. Graduate degrees in pertinent disciplines and experience with sodium cooled fast reactors would be considered a plus, but are not mandatory.
Experience developing requirements specifications, defining supplier technical workscope to include development of SOWs, RFPs, and providing technical direction and oversight of supplier projects.
Demonstrated skills in the technical direction of suppliers and in supporting contractual/commercial aspects of customer/supplier relationships.
Previous experience in technical interface with engineering groups for review and input to supplier activities.
Must have experience in writing statements of work, specifications for procurement, testing and fabrication.
Must have experience with project controls and organization along with tools and processes to support the same.
A broad understanding of the various engineering disciplines and how they interrelate in the design of a Reactor Plant is required.
The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
Design, fabrication and testing of the Reactor Refueling systems will be done by vendors. SLEs will need to travel and work/oversee (on a as needed basis) vendors which will be located within the United States, Europe and China. In addition to managing the design side of the project, the SLEs will need to manage the project (cost/schedule) side. The SLE will be totally responsible for design and fabrication of a complex electro/mechanical piece of equipment from design through acceptance testing.
In summary, the ideal candidate needs to be:
1) Familiar with running a design project
2) Detail orientated
3) Fabrication experience would be a plus
4) A mechanical/nuclear engineer
5) An understanding of electrical is a plus
6) An understanding of control circuits is a plus
