USAR 6445 - Waste Management - Waste Packing specialist – OAK RIDGE, TN – 12 MONTHS – NO PER DIEM
4 POSITIONS

WGS WPS responsible for all activity related to waste containers from obtaining tracking, loading, closure and staging/storage until container is offered for transport.

Responsibilities
• Initiates container tracking and control when empty containers are delivered to the facility.
• Verifies package integrity prior to filling.
• Verified appropriate package for waste to be containerized.
• Verifies contents meet description in approved file.
• Verifies packaged waste meets the physical WAC
• Certifies no anomalous items included in the package.
• Verifies package is not breached and/or damaged and is in a condition to withstand the stresses of loading, handling, stacking and shipping.
• Performs inspections, surveillance and oversight of activities critical to the ORR and NNSS Wastes Certification Program as requested by the WACO.
• Identifies and documents non-conforming conditions and activities in accordance to UCOR procedures.
• Tracks container movements and starts regulatory clock as prescribed in the WM procedures.
• Verifies the container is properly configured (i.e. liners, absorbents, gasket.)
• Maintains positive control of waste containers to prevent the introduction of anomalous or prohibitive items
• Provides oversight of the WPS.
• Verifies when delegating certification/verification duties to them.
• Ensures package integrity is sufficient to meet corresponding DOT packaging specifications.
• Verifies the selection of the appropriate on-site accumulation, staging and/or storage facility when waste cannot be shipped directly off site.
• Assists the generator in moving the waste accumulation, staging and/or storage.
• Ensures the waste is properly managed on-site prior to shipment for treatment and/or disposal.
• Coordinates the onsite facility to ensure the waste can be accepted without exceeding the receiving unit capacity or violating its authorization basis, WAC or RCCA permit.
• Certifies EMWMF waste shipments meet the facility WAC by signing waste certification statement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
5 plus years’ experience in hazardous waste handling storage and transportation
Ability to become "L" cleared
