DESCRIPTION OF WORK SPECIFIC:
Project engineer to support the Management of Cesium and Strontium Capsules (MCSC) Project. The overall objective of the MCSC Project is to move 1936 cesium and strontium capsules (cumulative inventory of ~90M Ci) currently in underwater storage in the Waste Encapsulation and Storage Facility (WESF) to a new Capsule Storage Area (CSA). The Selected Candidate will serve as a key member of the MCSC Project team providing technical support and management activities for work being performed by Hanford detailed design and site characterization contractors.

Matrixed to the Project Manager (PM) for CSA and WESF Modifications, the Selected Candidate will support the PM and the lead Project Engineer in performance of their responsibilities including but not limited to the activities following:
• Facilitate design interface management and design integration activities (e.g., with design contractors, design engineering, facility engineering, construction management, facility operations, radiological control, and other Hanford Prime Contractors).
• Facilitate responses to Requests for Clarification/Information (RCI’s) from the detailed design contractors.
• Coordinate and participate in design reviews and associated comment resolution activities.
• Track and facilitate resolution of emergent technical issues.
• Participate in self-assessments related to design process / design control / document control practices as applied to the W-135 project.
• Assist in performance of Buyer’s Technical Representative (BTR) contract management duties.
• Assist with schedule tracking for detailed design.

The Selected Candidate will also be required to:
• Qualify as a site engineer.
• Perform general W&FMP engineering and project duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years in engineering with at least 5 years of that related to design services and/or engineering during construction.
• Exposure to contract management for design or construction contracts.
• Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills.
• Competent using standard MS Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Startup experience.
• Previous experience working at the DOE Hanford site, or another DOE site, or a Commercial Nuclear site.
• Experience working at a Category 2 Nuclear Facility.
• Experience performing self-assessment (or audit) activities.
