Facility Engineer 2

o Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, required
o 5-7 years’ experience required

Responsibility level
o Exercises moderate independent judgment with direction from supervisor

• Sound knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, applications of engineering methods, and application of technology aided engineering tools to conventional facility and operations-based engineering problems.
• Sound knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
• Sound knowledge of engineering maintenance techniques and construction methodologies.
• Knowledge of relevant Laboratory procedures, standards and guides.
• Working knowledge of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.
• Sound knowledge of Engineering principles and procedures, design guides, appropriate standards, and administrative practices.
• Working knowledge of project and process engineering practices.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Adheres to engineering policies, programs, procedures and practices.
• Researches, assembles, and/or evaluates information or data regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes affecting engineering policies or programs; recommends sound, practical solutions to complex issues.
• Demonstrates full understanding of specialized area, plus working knowledge of other related fields.
• Applies standard engineering principles, theories, concepts and techniques within discipline to resolve a wide range of issues in a creative way.
• Provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
• Works under limited direction; receives general instruction on new assignments. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Determines approaches to solutions, plans schedule and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives.
• Performs design, installation and commissioning of commercial, industrial and safety-related systems.
• Utilizes engineering technology tools including CAD, CNC, CAE, etc., programs and develops software tools at varying levels of complexity.
• Assists with process and instrumentation control.
• Prepares documents, studies, and reports associated with facility lifecycles and space requirements as directed.
