Minimum Requirements

Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science or related disciplines

Experience
2 years relevant experience
Work experience in engineering, operations,maintenance, or technical support positions

Work Experience
Staff Training and Qualification
• Evaluate performance of individual staff to develop necessary training
• Monitor and coach operators and maintain oversight of integrated plant operations
• Ensure training programs provide necessary technical knowledge and skills
• Provide training feedback on program effectiveness with evaluation of operator performance
• Prepare position rotating program to develop career path
Work Management
• Direct shift crews to perform operation in accordance with established performance standards
• Determine operating conditions, system alignments, and equipment manipulations during a special test, infrequently performed evolution, or abnormal condition
• Make decision based on normal and special test procedures with input from operational and technical resources
• Direct operating crew response to abnormal conditions using approved operating procedures
• Hold crew briefings prior to plant activities such as surveillances, maintenance troubleshooting, or component manipulations that could initiate plant transients
• Ask key questions or review assignments to verify that the crews understand the information presented after briefings
• Limit control room access so operators are not distracted from monitoring plant parameters properly
• Maintain awareness of the total impact on plant safety of all out-of-service equipment
• Monitor plant operations on a day-to-day basis and perform periodic assessments to identify areas for improvement
• Ensure control of equipment and system status in accordance with formal guidance to maintain proper plant configuration
• Give instructions for aligning systems, locking components, verifying compliance with technical specifications prior to changing plant operating modes
• Maintain appropriate controls for activities that can potentially affect reactivity that are performed by other station personnel such as chemistry or instrumentation and controls technicians
• Authorize equipment removal from or restoration to service
• Effectively solve problems and implement appropriate actions to mitigate events and resolve issues
• Assess plant conditions and provide concise analysis to Main Control Room and Local operators in response to those conditions
• Oversee and direct all plant operational activities in accordance with the approved operating procedures, guidelines and the regulatory requirements
• Limit the number of concurrent evolutions affecting control board indications so as not to compromise operator ability to detect and respond to abnormal conditions
• Approve testing and maintenance activities
• Communicate to the next shift through the shift turnover process changes in equipment and system configuration that affect plant operation
• Ensure workload does not exceed available resources to ensure safety standards are not compromised
• Approve any changes in plant structures, systems and equipment.
• Communicate all changes in equipment and system status to the control room operators
• Evaluate fitness-to-duty of shift crews
• Communicate and instruct shift crews changes in equipment, drawings, procedures, set points and etc. and assure they own those changes
• Determine if plant status warrants notifying off-site personnel or regulatory agencies

• Manage the effective achievement of organization’s objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize subordinate and department performance

• Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiritization strategy

• Contribute to knowledge dissemination/sharing in a way that assists with building internal capabilities of UAE Nationals where applicable and maximize their effective performance

Be qualified as a Senior Reactor Operator through completing designated training course and attaining Senior Reactor Operator License/Certification. Key activities specified below should be attained during undergoing training program. They are essentially needed, when Senior Reactor Operator is positioned as a Shift Manager, to direct the activities of all the Main Control Room operators and local operators in the plant and to coordinate activities associated with operation, maintenance, and testing.
