The Information System Software Engineer (Software Engineer) will work in multiple information system domains including Manufacturing Execution System and Laboratory Information Management
The Software Engineer will report to the Lead Information System Engineer.
After initial orientation and training the Software Engineer will work either individually or In a small team and expected to be relatively autonomous within the context of the current project. Projects will be varied and include new software development, updates to existing developments, software testing, and trouble shooting.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
(a) development of software that meets the project requirements including for some applications the reuse of existing applications from the MFFF reference facilities;
(b) interpreting synthesizing a process control system into written requirements based on upstream engineering documents and 'technical specifications;
(c) analysis of the impact of process changes or test deficiencies and creation of change requests to facilitate the necessary changes;
(d) implementing approved software changes into existing software;
(e) Review of software requirements specifications, software design documents, code reviews and testing of changes implemented by others and.
(f) Execution of work within the constraints of the approved budget and schedule, and In conformation with the required quality standards; and
(g) Ensure that functional deliveries are properly placed under software configuration management.
Bachelor of Science — Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering; or related field of Engineering
Ten (10) years of relevant experience can be accepted in lieu of a BS Degree. Experience:2+ years relevant experience with manufacturing execution systems or information systems either In manufacturing, government or nuclear power business or similar sectors.
The Software Engineer:
(a) must demonstrate creativity, initiative, and motivation necessary to assess problems and develop solutions with minimum assistance from supervisors;
(b) must be organized and have the ability to Interact with key software personal in an efficient and effective manner;
(c) must be able to understand and apply software development standards, regulations, and other project specific requirements applied to software development;
(d) must be able to understand and obey all project safety requirements and initiatives;
(e) must be able to interact and coordinate with the responsible system engineers and designer of the process equipment;
(f) must be confident and individually responsible; and
(g) must be willing to assume other duties as necessary to support the Lead Domain Engineers in their duties.
The Software Engineer must; have an understanding of a structured Software Development Unicycle; have strong technical writing and engineering document interpretation skills; be team oriented have excellent written and verbal communication skills; and be skilled In the use of Microsoft OS and Office applications. The Software Engineer must be proficient In C, C++, and SQL.
Have experience with VMS operating system, Oracle RDB, or Sample Manager LIMSTM software. Prior experience in software development in regulated environments such as commercial nuclear power, Pharmaceuticals, or the FDA.
