Contract / Temp to Direct / Direct Hire: Contract

NEC Technical Service anticipates a future need for the following:

Lead Quality Engineer (Job No. 03-070518-01)

Conduct lead quality assurance activities related to design reviews, licensing, procurement, in-process and final equipment acceptance, design specifications, vendor selection, procedure / specification acceptance, drawing review, quality planning and non- conforming condition resolution. Review codes, standards, and regulations for impact on existing internal procedures and specifications. Initiate actions to issue or revise procedures to achieve conformance. Identify, develop, and implement inspection/examination techniques and related acceptance criteria for process and final inspection. Develop and implement quality assurance procedures, oversight plans, and specifications in compliance with internal requirements.

Lead Quality Engineer will work largely with management providing interface and coordinating quality assurance activities such as oversight plans, audits, position plans, and licensing and safety.

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 10 years’ experience of supporting large nuclear construction projects from start to finish
• Experience developing Quality Assurance Oversight Plans from start to finish
• American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector. Supporting documentation is required.
• Strong knowledge in non-destructive testing. Supporting documentation is required.
• Strong knowledge in dimensional inspection. Supporting documentation is required.

Preferred:

• DOE experience.

Job Scope:
• Capable of performing visual inspections.
• Capable of performing dimensional inspections using complex instruments.
• Capable of writing detailed inspection plans/procedures and be able to act as Team Lead for project specific subcontracts.
• Must possess good report writing and communication skills
• Must be knowledgeable and capable of traveling to numerous vendor facilities.
• Must be able to report on project status as requested.
• Must be capable of reviewing and interpreting complex drawings, statement of works, specifications, codes, etc.
• Must be capable of developing and implementing inspection plans and procedures
• Must be capable of successfully completing a site specific annual eye exam, prior to commencement of any inspection activities.
• Must successfully complete QA Qualification Process including Quality Engineer Task Cards and Dimensional Inspection Authorization Task Card with hands on dimensional practical exam as directed.
• Work activities will be performed under the direction of the QA organization, using client procedures, forms, and the QA Program Description (QAPD).
• Be capable of climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on uneven surfaces, working in various temperature extremes, and carrying inspection equipment as needed
• Must successfully complete General Employee Training (GET)
• Must complete other site specific training on an as needed basis as directed.
