A qualified candidate is required to support multiple organizations and functions on the Hanford site including:

• Fire Systems Engineering
o Obtain qualifications and act as a Design Authority for FA and RFAR systems.
o Establish and maintain system configuration control.
o Track and trend system performance and issue health reports.
o Support system Operations personnel.
o Support generation and review if design media as required for system modifications.
o Perform system assessments.
o Additional tasks as assigned by Engineering management team.
• Fire Systems Maintenance
o Ensure all required maintenance is identified.
o Initiate/revise preventive and corrective maintenance documentation as required.
o Reviewing completed maintenance documentation to disposition open issues.
o Provide training and oversight to maintenance personnel.
o Identify and assist in ordering and storage of spare parts.
• Hanford Fire Marshal’s Office
o Act as the Subject Matter Expert when requested by the HFMO.
o Assist HFMO with site-wide audits/assessments.
o Work with HFMO to resolve FA and RFAR issues impacting system operations.
• Projects
o Support establishment of project design criteria, execution plans and other higher-level planning documents.
o Support development and review of design media for FA and RFAR projects.
o Perform design constructability reviews.
o Support test development and performance.
o Perform system walk downs and ensure baseline configuration is maintained.

• National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III or IV for FA and/or RFAR systems.
• Fifteen or more years’ experience in the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems.
• Seven years’ experience as a Field Work Supervisor, Field Engineer, or Project Engineer in the Fire Protection Industry.
• Exposure and familiarity with the Hanford Job Control System.
• Experience coordinating fire protection design and practical application with other technical disciplines to achieve a comprehensive approach to fire prevention/protection.
• Experience working with Electrical Craft.
• Past experience performing constructability reviews on Fire Alarm System designs.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Engineering degree or Professional Engineer (PE) Certification.
• Have a working knowledge of DOE programs and activities and associated fire protection requirements.
• Experience identifying problems in the field and working with Engineering to implement field modifications and resolve installation issues.
