Electrical Design Engineer
• BS Degree +2 years job related +1 year of nuclear facility experience.
• Expert understanding of pertinent codes and governing regulations and industry practices Expert knowledge of applicable codes and standards as well as project procedures Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Understanding of multiple engineering disciplines

Position Overview:

Under general supervision, performs Engineering job functions as assigned by management. Typical job responsibilities assist and support management in engineering equipment design and development; system design; materials testing; review, checking and commenting on designs/drawings/data prepared by subordinate engineers and subcontractors; engineering studies and report preparation; and engineering computer programming as assigned. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:
• Provide expert analysis and assistance for electrical engineering matters ranging from three­ phase medium voltage distribution systems (13.8 kV) to three- and single-phase application voltages. (480/220/208/120 VAC)
• Prepares engineering forecasts, quality take-offs and change orders.
• Prepares preliminary and final specifications and designs.
• Perform inspections, assess hazards; develop recommendations on electrical issues.
• Develop and assess electrical arc flash in accordance with NFPA 70E. SKM modeling capability desirable.
• Evaluates operations & proposed modifications to determine compliance with engineering disciplines and standards, federal, state, or local statutes, and environmental regulations.
• Conducts feasibility studies and evaluates potential technologies.
• Works with Engineering team to provide technical guidance to field project personnel.
• Assumes the lead role on Engineering projects as assigned
• Maintains familiarity with current technical developments in pertinent scientific areas.
• Takes responsibility for ensuring accuracy and completeness of all data and work produced
• Provides assigned technical or functional support to team members
• Performs with tracking and trending of Design performance
• Performs maintenance/supports Design operability or engineering evaluations when necessary
• Prepares dispositions problem reports on assigned projects ·
• Performs project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress and preparation of procedures
• Identifies and evaluates project issues and problems
• Prepares forecasts, quality take-offs and change orders
• Conducts feasibility studies and evaluates potential technologies
• Prepares scheduling, estimates, progress reports, meetings, procurement activities, etc. necessary to support project activities utilizing professional engineering techniques with a wide latitude for independent action and decision
• Performs research to analyze and validate design or theory concepts
• Responsible for technical ownership of assigned projects
• Subject matter expert
• Assists in training preparation and facilitation
• Evaluates operations and proposed modifications to determine compliance with engineering disciplines and standards, federal, state or local statutes and regulations as well as project/company policy
• Perform technical review, troubleshooting and day to day technical support for maintenance, operations and other engineering groups
• Utilize vendor data and work with personnel from other disciplines, as required, for performance of designs
• Develops a Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimate
• Reviews, compiles and documents all input/outputs
• Ensures completion of Technical Reviews, including USQD screenings, Safety Evaluations, Safety Basis changes, etc.
• Lead role for projects as assigned
• Interfaces with other technical and production organizations to complle the technical information required to prepare the documentation
• Serves as a resource for lower level positions
• Provides assigned technical or functional support to operations and team members
• Performs a variety of tasks complex in nature
• Other job related duties as assigned

Working Conditions
• Work in an environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated/ and or abandoned facilities). Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.
• Ability to wear a respirator and other protective equipment to enter various types of potentially hazardous areas.
• Ability to carry several instruments/equipment or tools while walking extensively. Potential prolonged walking/standing, repeated pushing/pulling.
• Ability to perform medium to very heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, non-repetitive, up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
• Potential for prolonged driving of or riding in a motor vehicle, machine operation, and/or working around moving equipment/machinery or motorized vehicles.
• Ability to work in confined areas, tanks, heat stress conditions, high noise and areas with radiation and chemical hazards.
• In some cases, radiological training may be required.
• May be required to operate company vehicle during the course of work. All safety and DOT regulations and procedures must be adhered to at all times.
