The Mechanical Engineer will be working as part of a team of engineers and designers at the DTE Fermi Nuclear Plant working on plant modification packages.
The Engineer must complete complex design and engineering assignments including calculation and specification development, preparation of work packages including providing input to new mechanical/piping drawings and modifications to existing plant drawings.
The Engineer will exercises sound judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design data, coordinate the efforts of the group with other discipline groups on the same project.
Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in Mechanical Engineering from a four year accredited college or university.
10 years of engineering and design experience developing modification packages for various mechanical/piping systems serving nuclear power plants.
The successful candidate must be capable of performing engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, pressure drop, etc., develop design and procurement specifications, and develop and update piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for various plant mechanical systems.
Must be able to develop material and work-hour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
Must be able to obtain non-escorted access into a nuclear power plant and be familiar with nuclear standards and guidelines.
Must have good communication skills and experience working in multi-discipline project team environment.
Professional engineering license and field experience at a nuclear power plant preferred.
