DJP5463 – IMPLEMENTATION MANAGER – HUNTERSVILLE, NC – 3 MONTHS

DESCRIPTION

This individual coordinates and provides oversight for all implementation activities associated with one or more MPO projects. The primary responsibility of this individual is to eliminate barriers from the teams’ ability to complete work in a SAFE, event free quality manner. It is the responsibility of this individual to ensure that all work activities are properly planned, reviewed, and that effective look-ahead, package reviews, and work status are completed. This individual interfaces with the MPO Outage Coordinator, Implementation Accountable, and Implementation Team Supervisor(s), as well as the Project Manager (PM).

SAFETY:
• To ensure the work is preformed safely and event free. This includes:
• Be a champion in CORE 4 Expectations.
• Conduct periodic safety inspections and observations using Core 4 principles and reports in FObs.
• Support ALARA & Personnel Contamination Event goals and dose tracking
• Perform documented job observations on all risk significant tasks. Performs work execution readiness reviews.
• Ensure effective pre-job briefings and team turnovers are conducted.
• Work with supervisors and process control technicians using EMP Center for scenarios to ensure workers will not exceed the fatigue rule...
• Review, understand and approve vendor’s safety plans.

Quality:
• Identify critical skills needed and request those as needed.
• Perform AD-AD-ALL-0007 Orientation for Non-assigned individuals.
• Coordinate table top reviews for first time projects and others as necessary.
• Decide whether mockups are needed and order/coordinate set-up as required.
• Participates in validation of procedures in accordance with AD-DC-ALL-0201 prior to implementation.
• Notify Site Work Force Coordinator concerning changes in work and /or personnel needs.
• Provide oversight and/or coordination of resources including plant personnel (I&E, QC, etc.) during execution and testing activities.
• Communicate clearly about desired behaviors and behaviors that are unacceptable.
• Ensure the craft understands and complies with the technical aspects of the modification installation from a design and administrative standpoint.
• Ensure that technical support for resolving technical problems during field installation is provided and work closely with the Field Engineer to bring resolution to technical problems requiring further MPO engineering work.
• During multi-shift work, provide an effective written and face-to-face turnover for the oncoming IM and turnover document to the scheduler and/or SOC, especially when IMs or crews will be off-site for a period of time.
• Appropriately maintain documentation and records of assumptions, important events, decision, actions, or problems through the use of appropriate CAS screens and turnovers.
• Communicates to other Implementation Managers for overlapping scope or interferences
• Using lessons learned, develop risk assessment contingency plans.
• Post implementation review of lessons learned for each project.
• Provides input on project contingency issues such as delays, scope change, recovery plans etc.
• Participate in post-outage critiques.

Schedule:
• Assign team member roles and execution duties
• Assist in the development of detailed schedules, including meeting with Operations and the project planner/scheduler as necessary to set up tagging/WOTAs appropriately
• Continuously monitor and report project status to scheduler when online, the SOC during outage periods.
• Alert PM if more than planned overtime is required
• Daily, look-ahead (w/ technical support and Supervisors) for the next 24 hours from the time the shift begins
• Elevate concerns noted during look ahead to the scheduler, the SOC and PM. This should be done promptly so that issues can be addressed in a timely manner
• Interface with Site Support groups or MPO Engineering Coordinator to ensure support is provided in a timely manner
• Maintains ownership of the Implementation plan which is worked through the schedule
• Assures immediate notification of schedule delays to appropriate personnel
• Supports startup / Post-Mod Testing
• Provide accurate schedule status updates
• Manages craft schedule adherence

Good Plans:
• Acts as a centralized point of coordination and communication during implementation
• Formulate organizational structure of execution teams and staff according to plan. Craft resources for critical projects should be dedicated to those projects. Any deviation from this approach should be approved by the Implementation Section Manager
• Ensure project goals are well understood by project execution team
• Develop project safety, ALARA, FME plans
• Perform review of Work Orders/Work Packages
• Identify temporary power needs
• Assure that special tools required are identified, ordered, received, and tested
• Special consideration must be given to staffing plans for extended outages to assure most efficient use of resources
• Support development of critical/complex evolution plans
• Interfaces with site Operations, RP, Chemistry and Maintenance as needed to coordinate work activities
• Identify staffing concerns (craft, supervision, oversight, and engineering) to the Implementation Section Manager for resolution and to the PM for information
• Develop custom pre-job briefs for assigned projects and include Core 4 principles in the presentation
• Ensure CAS status updates are completed on each shift
• Determine accountability for material handling and disposition of components removed
• Determine accountability for lift plans and recommend assigned craft involvement in plan preparation
• Determine, order, and coordinate the set-up of team facilities
• Support MPO outage meetings as needed and serve as the SPOC for assigned projects
• Assure that NCRs associated with implementation are written and/or addressed.
• Complete assigned NCRs as required
• Assures that sub-contract scopes are properly aligned and coordinated
• Release of non-assigned individuals upon project completion
• Create a contingency plan if work is to end earlier than scheduled

Required Qualifications
• 7+ yrs. of related experience and 2 yr. associate technical degree or 10+ yrs. of experience in lieu of degree

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience working at Duke Energy.
• Experience working at McGuire Nuclear Station
• 10+ years of Project Electrical Implementation Experience
• Knowledge of Duke Procedures and Processes
