Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Research Training Officer Administrative Assistant opportunity for our customer in Oak Ridge, TN for the ORNL Facility.

The Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities Division (NNFD) within Nuclear Science and Engineering Directorate (NSED) is seeking a Training Officer to assist our Nuclear Research Operations Group (NRO). The research supported involves radiochemistry, chemical engineering, and nuclear engineering principles using materials ranging from non-radioactive chemicals, laser operations, highly radioactive materials in glove boxes and hot cells. This position requires a highly organized and self-motivated individual with strong oral and written communication skills.

This position will assist the NSED Research Training Manager with the assignment and communication of technical training to research divisions within NSED.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Become proficient with the Learning Management System used at ORNL, Learning Resource Network (LRN).

Assist with assignment of training certifications as directed by the NSED Research Training Manager in the Learning Resource Network (LRN), in support of NSED's research mission.

Communicate with trainees regarding the assignment of training in LRN.

Communicate with supervisors to identify the initial training requirements for new NSED Research Division employees, students, and subcontractors.

Assign initial training certifications to new NSED Research Division employees, students, and subcontractors.

Enroll participants in training classes and events in LRN.

Communicate training information and announcements as directed by the NSED Research Training Manager.

Provide support to the NSED Research Training Manager for completing training reports.

Serve as a Division Training Officer (DTO) for NSED Research Divisions.

Assist researchers with questions regarding training issues and fulfillment of training requirements.

The successful candidate will work as a part of a cross-functional team supporting R&D activities across the four divisions and will report directly to the NRO Group Leader. This position will work under the direct supervision of the NSED Research Training Manager.

Qualifications Required:

Candidates applying for this position are required to have a high school degree, along with three to five years of experience in an office environment. Experience with Excel, PAS, and SAP is desired. Good interpersonal and communications skills are necessary. Must have the ability to work individually and as an active and contributing team member; manage time and work; accomplish multiple tasks in a complex environment, with attention to detail and thoroughness; possess an enthusiastic and positive work ethic. Must be able to take notes, follow instructions, and constructively handle challenges and/or learn new skills. Exceptional teamwork, computer, and organizational skills, and strong personal motivation with the ability to adjust to changing priorities are required. Demonstrated initiative and follow-through are required.
