The Civil Field Engineer reports to the Lead Civil Engineer. This individual is responsible for providing technical assistance, direction, and support to client and subcontractor field supervision for Civil Construction related activities.
Primary responsibilities and associated duties include:
Providing support to field supervision in establishing requirements for manpower, tools, equipment, and material requirements for a given work evolution
Performing inspections and initiating supporting documentation for the Civil scope on an ongoing basis. Interpretation of design related issues associated with OSBL/Cogen scope.
Preparing short- and long-term schedules, and interfacing with the superintendents and other discipline field engineers
Ensuring all installations are per latest revisions of design drawings, specifications, standards and codes
Acting as point of contact for coordination and resolution of all technical issues related to select subcontractors on site who provide technical services for the execution of the civil scope of work, including initiating all formal subcontract change documentation to support the subcontract administrator
Completing and verifying quality documentation per inspection and test plans
Preparing field material requisitions for equipment and materials, and monitoring status of purchase orders and deliveries
Completing final system walk-downs, deficiency tracking and close-out Executing field material takeoffs from "Issued For Construction" drawing
Assisting field procurement in receipt inspection and reporting of associated equipment and materials and preventive maintenance requirements
Trouble-shooting the design, resolving issues with engineering and/or fabricator using formal field documentation processes
Providing input to the quantity tracking applications and reporting on weekly installed quantities to Project Controls
Completing and reviewing as-built documentation
Monitoring actual work performance compared to the project budget and schedule.
Overall technical responsibility for the civil scope.
Degree in civil engineering or equivalent work experience/qualifications
Minimum 7 years experience with the civil discipline
Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner
Excellent problem-solving ability
Must be able to work flexible hours, occasional weekends, and potential night shifts to support construction site needs
