[Electrical Engineer] Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - Power Generation

** This position can be filled as an Engineer III (Fos), Sr Engineer (Fos) or Sr Lead Engineer (Fos) depending on experience and qualifications. **


Provide engineering expertise to the Capital Project Organization team to be utilized in the design, procurement and construction of Power Generation facilities, to ensure that any new construction or work to an existing facility results in safe, efficient, and reliable Power Generation. The role will also ensure that engineering for projects is in compliance with permits, codes, utility design standards, contractual agreements and supports the operations and maintenance goals of the project and portfolio. Supports projects in the office, plant and construction site environments. Working knowledge of Emerson DCS such as Ovation and DeltaV is highly preferred.


•Works with engineers from third party Owner’s Engineer organizations that are engaged on projects. Reviews their work to ensure that it meets the requirements of the project and any relevant contracts.
•Assists in bringing fleet standardized programs into alignment and ensures that lessons learned are implemented across the fleet
•Helps develop and maintain company engineering standards including points of view and approaches for common engineering and design issues
•Takes responsibility for assigned project scope to oversee contractor’s performance of the scope
•Travels to project sites to gather data, inspect work and oversee field installations as reasonably required
•Brings broad experience and technical expertise to the Capitol Projects engineering organization to ensure that the oversight of and response to technical issues is at the necessary level of detail
•Provides detailed technical analysis and perspective in new facilities or for modifications to existing facilities for the design of information technology networks; distributed control systems (DCS) in gas and steam turbine control system hardware and software in addition to Balance of Plant (BOP) control systems; SCADA networks
•Ensures engineering work is performed and programs implemented consistent with standards of excellence
•Ensures that NERC Reliability Standards and CIP Standards are being addressed


Minimum Education:

•B.S. Degree in Engineering
•Desired: ◦Electrical Engineering degree preferred
◦Master of Science; Electrical Engineering

Minimum Experience:

•Engineer III: at least 4-6 years of applicable and progressive experience
•Engineer Sr: at least 6 years of applicable and progressive experience
•Engineer Sr Lead: at least 8 years of applicable and progressive experience
•Highly Desired: Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) experience

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•Power Plant operations knowledge with working experience at a generating station
•NERC Reliability Standard and CIP Standard knowledge STRONGLY preferred
•Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multi-projects simultaneously
•Good verbal and written communications skills
•Strong interpersonal skills, team player and/or leadership skills
•Self-starter, independent worker, self-motivator
•Highly Desired: Working knowledge of Emerson DCS such as Ovation and DeltaV

Any Certificates, Licenses, etc.:
•Highly Desired: Professional Engineering license
