We are looking for multiple Criticality Safety Engineers with the following qualifications:

Duties:
Criticality Safety Engineer/Specialist - Shall have demonstrated experience in performing nuclear criticality safety evaluations and/or process studies involving fissionable material outside of reactors, and/or shielding calculations, using Monte Carlo computational methods. Provide operating areas with specific NCS professional interpretations and advice. Perform analysis of equipment, processes, and procedures prescribing correct methods, control requirements, and limitations. Validate, maintain, and operate nuclear computer codes and nuclear cross-sections. Experience in the application of DOE rules, guides, orders, standards, and handbooks including 10 CFR 830- Nuclear Safety Management is required. Candidates shall have experience with the application of requirements from DOE 420.1C; DOE-STD-3007-2007; and applicable ANSI/ANS 8-Series Standards.
Responsible for producing criticality safety evaluations of proposed fissile processes to ensure adequate limits are derived and implemented for the design and construction of UPF. Responsible for producing computer based calculations using SCALE/KENO and/or MCNP in support of NCS Evaluations. Responsible for interacting with the UPF design team to ensure proper integration of safety and design is achieved this may involve attendance at meetings, teleconferences, and/or walk-downs (physical or 3D model review). Knowledge of and experience with DOE Order 420.1C, DOE-STD-3007, DOE-STD-1189, and the ANSI/ANS-8 series of standards is required. Also, knowledge and use of NCS related analysis codes (SCALE/KENO and MCNP) are required.

Experience/Education:
BA/BS (or higher) in Nuclear Engineering and 10-14 years experience performing NCS technical work in the DOE complex. MA/MS with 9-13 years of experience. Alternate degrees and experience in the NRC/commercial sector will be considered on a case by case basis.

Duration: Award through 12/31/2020
