Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Communications Specialist opportunity for our customer in Richland, WA to support the Hanford Site.

Position Title: Communications Specialist

FT/PT – Hours: FT 40

Work Location: Federal Building - or as otherwise directed by the CLR Supervisor
Job Duties
Our Communications Team is seeking an experienced Communications Specialists to provide internal and external strategic communications support to increase internal and public awareness of achievements and to maintain and enhance attitudes of confidence, respect and support for the company. The ideal candidate will come equipped with proven experience translating conceptual ideas into high-quality, written, electronic and video formats that align with client and company goals, relying on trusted relationships with all levels of project and support organizations.

A day in the life of a Communications Specialist involves:

• Developing strong relationships across projects to develop and executing communication strategies utilizing compelling and accurate written, graphic and video content.
• Promoting team atmosphere to ensure project completion that represents innovative and excellent communication services to customers and stakeholders.
• Participating in an organization that provides strategic communication services, including graphic design, videography, project support, media and the development and distribution of written communications to internal and external audiences.
• Developing relationships and project knowledge across the company to facilitate development of story ideas/proposals that support company and client objectives.
• Preparing and distributing news releases concerning performance, and public and employee announcements.
• Managing client and other working relationships.
• Representing company in media and governmental relations.
• Providing accurate, error-free writing support to Communication and Leadership team.
• Preparing company presentation materials for internal and external audiences.
• Overseeing arrangements for special events, tours, and activities to secure goodwill of visitors, civic organizations, employees, and staff.
• Under direct supervision, providing consultation and expertise to assist company management in planning and executing communication-related programs.
• Maintaining knowledge of safety policies and procedures and safely perform assigned duties.
• Developing ideas and overall concepts for producing communications projects.
• Creating or enlisting outside assistance to create elements required for completing communication projects.
• Writing news releases and developing content for information products (e.g., fact sheets, brochures, social media).
• Supporting events that are outside of normal work hours.

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years of progressive responsibility developing high-quality content for internal and external audiences that align with strategic objectives.
• Demonstrated commitment to working safely and maintaining high ethical standards.
• Proven strong writing and verbal communication skills with knowledge of Associated Press style. Writing samples are required.
• Experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans with measurable objectives, reporting mechanisms and budgets.
• Thorough understanding of strategic communications principles and practices.
• Proven ability to translate technical information into clear, concise information for the general public.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and implement communications programs aimed at internal and external audiences.
• Experience dealing with a wide variety of public and government officials, both local and national.
• Excellent communication and multifaceted project management skills required with very strong written and interpersonal skills to effectively partner with senior management
• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to build consensus, produce results in working with cross-functional teams (including state and local officials, stakeholders and private entities) and ensure consistent follow-through.
• Experience utilizing social media in a corporate communications capacity.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines.
