Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for an Industrial Hygienist Instructor opportunity for our customer in Richland, WA to support the Hanford Site HAMMER Facility. Requires current certification as Certified Industrial Hygienist.
Title: PROVIDE INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST SUPPORT TO THE BERYLLIUM & INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN TRAINING PROGRAMS AT HAMMER
Work Location / Potential Access Requirements
This work scope shall be completed at the HAMMER Facility or other Hanford Site satellite locations. The work to be completed at the HAMMER Facility will be performed in an office environment/conference room/classroom/HAMMER training props. When directed by the HAMMER individual identified by the BTR, courses may be conducted at satellite locations on the Hanford Site.
INTRODUCTION / BACKGROUND
The Mission Support Alliance (MSA) Volpentest HAMMER Federal Training Center is a U. S. Department of Energy training facility specializing in hands-on training for the Hanford Site and the nation's Homeland Security mission.
HAMMER Training requires instructional support for the Site Wide Beryllium Training Program at the HAMMER facility. Beryllium training is required by 10 CFR 850.37 Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program – Training and Counseling. In addition, instructional support is needed for the Industrial Hygiene Technician (IHT) Training Program.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK – SPECIFIC
Support for the Beryllium Training Program
Subcontractor shall provide support for the Beryllium Training Program by an experienced Industrial Hygienist(s) familiar with the Hanford Site Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program. The Subcontractor personnel shall perform the function of Industrial Hygienist in the scheduled Beryllium Classes to answer technical questions associated with the Hanford Site Beryllium Program.
The Subcontractor personnel shall assist with the development, review, and modification of Beryllium training courses when requested by the Beryllium Training Program Manager.

Support for the Industrial Hygiene Technician (IHT) Training Program
Subcontractor shall provide an experienced Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) who is familiar with Hanford Industrial Hygiene programs and IHTs to support the Hanford IHT Training Program. The Subcontractor personnel shall present training as a designated instructor.
The Subcontractor personnel shall assist with the development, review, and modification of IHT training courses when requested by the IHT Training Program Manager.

The scheduling, coordination, and request for the support shall be initiated by the HAMMER individual identified by the Buyer’s Technical Representative (BTR) on an as-needed basis.
Training and Qualifications
HAMMER Training will ensure that the Subcontractor instructor meets and maintains the appropriate training, qualification, and certification requirements as outlined in MSA’s Instructional Staff Training Program Description.
The following types of training qualifications are required:
• Current Certification as Certified Industrial Hygienist
• Five or more years of experience in Industrial Hygiene and/or Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Hygiene
• Minimum of two years of instructional experience in teaching OS&H courses
• Minimum of five years of experience as Industrial Hygienist at Hanford
• Demonstrated experience at Hanford Facilities and Hanford Projects
• Knowledgeable of Industrial Hygiene Technician (IHT) roles and responsibilities on the Hanford site
• Demonstrated knowledge of ongoing Hanford Beryllium issues and knowledge of Hanford Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program (CBDPP).
• Experience presenting to large groups
• Basic use of Microsoft Office suite
• Basic use of Audio/Visual (A/V) equipment
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong presentation skills, including presenting to a diverse student population; i.e., professional, bargaining unit, and management, etc.
As part of the technical evaluation of Subcontractor proposal(s), candidates who are found to meet the technical qualifications may be interviewed by HAMMER Training staff. As a part of that interview, the Subcontractor instructor candidate(s) may be asked to give a 10 to 15 minute presentation to HAMMER Training staff to demonstrate his/her instruction and presentation abilities on a safety training subject.
Site Access and Work Hours
HAMMER operates on the Site standard 4x10s schedule from 6am to 4:30pm with one-half hour designated as an unpaid period for lunch - with Mondays through Thursdays as Site work days; however, non-standard hours of support may be required. In addition, some preparation/take down time may be required before and after a course is taught.
The HAMMER Facility is open from 5:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Thursday. As deemed necessary, HAMMER is open non-standard hours (including Fridays) to support Hanford Site Training needs. Work is to be performed during those hours unless special arrangements are made through HAMMER Operations.
Work performed outside normal operating hours shall be coordinated and/or approved through the HAMMER individual identified by the BTR prior to performing the work.
