[Civil Engineer] Civil / Structural Analysis Engineer Opening - Idaho Falls

GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a Civil/Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team at the Idaho Cleanup Project in Idaho Falls, Idaho, which provides integral mission support to the NNSA. This position will provide engineering support to the Civil/Structural & Analysis organization in a variety of projects and functions. The ideal candidate will have experience using finite element analysis software, integrating safety into all aspects of engineering duties, and a string sense of personal accountability in the workplace.


This position will serve the Idaho Cleanup Project (part of INL) in Idaho Falls, ID.

Position Overview:

Perform analysis, hand calculations, modeling and simulation of civil/ structural and mechanical systems and components.
Perform linear and nonlinear, static and dynamic, analysis of such factors as stress, force, vibration, and material plasticity. Compare results to the provisions of governing codes, standards, and orders.
Perform seismic (and other natural phenomenon) analysis of structures and components of varying complexity.
Provide support to various projects requiring design and analysis of concrete, asphalt, and earthwork applications.
Provide support to design teams in development of design requirements, alternative analysis, equipment selection and sizing, vendor equipment summaries and evaluations, and drawings.
Develop specifications, drawings, supporting analysis and calculations and engineering design files.
Perform technical checking of Engineering Design Files and drawings for a variety of projects.
Provide support to Safety Analysis through analysis of accidents and their potential consequences.
Support demolition and decommissioning (D&D) work.
Contribute to and develop cost estimates.

Minimum Qualifications:

U.S. citizen and able to work in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Work a 4X10 schedule, based out of the Sawtelle Street Facility and be able to perform site visits as required.
Accredited four (4) year degree in civil/structural or mechanical engineering and 6 years of position-related experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Apply engineering principles, theories, and concepts and relevant technical knowledge necessary to complete work.
Knowledge of and ability to apply local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines as required.
Communicate effectively with a design team, management, coworkers, and clients.
Produce written reports, analyses, and other deliverables.
Complete work on schedule, participate in reviews, and provide technical checks and peer reviews.
Have experience and be conversant in RISA, Mulitframe, STAAD.Pro, and other finite element analysis software.
Proficient in MS Word and MathCad.

Special Requirements/Training (Optional):

Prefer licensed professional engineer in the State of Idaho with experience using complex structural/Stress analysis, and Abaqus finite element analysis software.
General Employee Training including ISMS, VPP and safety meetings as required by the company or the task-specific or facility-specific conditions to be identified by the home organization supervisor or manager on the Individual Training Plan. Additional task-specific training to be identified by the home or work organization manager.

Environmental, Safety, and Health Statement:

Must be familiar with and comply with all relevant health and safety requirements.
Must be knowledgeable of emergency action policies and procedures, methods for reporting/resolving unsafe work practices or conditions to available cognizant professionals.

Work Schedule: 4x10s Monday through Thursday
