The ES provides comprehensive environmental support to assigned geographic and/or organizational sections.
Conducts investigation of incidents.
Recommends improvements in moderately complex processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize the environmental hazard potential.
Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Serve as single-points-of-contact or coordinators to implement environmental activities that require broad knowledge and experience to provide compliance solutions to Environmental issues.
Provides direction for moderately complex work activities to comply with environmental regulations and corporate requirements.
Develops, implements, and recommends improvements in programs, systems, and procedures.
Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Interacts with subject matter experts and customers to ensure consistent and thorough implementation of moderately complex Environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
Anticipates and prevents Environmental incidents and hazards along with leads/conducts investigation of incidents.
Responsible for evaluating federal, state, and local environmental permitting requirements for Transmission capital project work concerning regulated electric transmission substations and lines.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelorís degree in biology, wildlife biology, ecology, or natural sciences.
Professional certification/ license (i.e. CPESC, QEP, PWS, Professional Engineer, Professional Landscape Architect.)

Minimum of 15 years of experience
Ten years of experience supporting land development environmental permitting within multiple regulatory jurisdictions preferred.
Proficient in obtaining local, state, and federal environmental permits.
Excellent negotiating skills with regulators and the public regarding the environmental permitting of land development projects
Substantial experience gaining environmental land development permits in North and South Carolina
Experience work for an electric utility
Demonstrate ability to successfully influence outcome with a high level of collaboration.
Experience supporting and managing land-development projects and/or linear construction projects.
Experience obtaining regulatory approvals from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S Fish and Wildlife Service, State Historic Preservation Officer and NC DEQ/DHEC.
Experience preparing erosion control plan drawings and obtaining plan approval from NC DEQ/DHEC.
