[Inspection] NEC Electrical Inspector

Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for NEC Electrical Inspector opportunities to support the Hanford Site in Richland, WA to support perform on-demand and as requested NEC inspections of field installed electrical configurations and design reviews.

Hanford Mission Integration Solutions (HMIS) requires NFPA National Electrical Code (NEC) Inspections and design reviews. NEC inspections are required per DOE-0359, Hanford Site Electrical Safety Program (HSESP). Inspectors will also be required to perform pre-construction reviews and attend Hanford Electrical Codes Board meetings and design review meetings as required.

Required Qualifications
• NEC Inspectors shall pass a nationally recognized test for general electrical inspectors and plan review inspectors. The International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) or the International Code Council (ICC) shall certify these tests.
• NEC Inspectors shall have at least one of the following:
o Minimum four years’ experience as a journeyman-level electrician installing and maintaining electrical equipment;
o Two years electrical training in a college of electrical engineering of recognized standing and four years of continuous practical electrical experience in installation work;
o Four years of electrical training in a college of electrical engineering of recognized standing and two years continuous practical electrical experience in electrical installation work.
• NEC Inspectors shall remain cognizant of the latest status of the NEC via continued training and education.

Desired Qualifications
Prior, verifiable experience as an NEC inspector.

Work Location / Potential Access Requirements
Perform inspections and attend meetings on the Hanford Site, as assigned.

NEC Inspectors will perform the following services:
• Perform and Complete NEC Inspections and design reviews as assigned.
• Be independent from the work they inspect. They shall not inspect work for which they have direct line management, engineering, or construction responsibility.
• Act as a field representative of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to administer and enforce the NEC.
• Maintain qualification as established in Section 5.1.
• Issue Electrical Inspection Permits (EIP) (site form A-6005-707).
• Consult with designers and installers on NEC compliance issues.
• Perform field inspections for installations and modifications of electrical systems and equipment.
• Issue NEC inspection reports to the EIP Holder and AHJ.
• Present disputed NEC inspection reports and issues to the company AHJ(s) for resolution.
• Attend and contribute to Hanford Electrical Codes Board Meetings.
• Other items relating to NEC that may arise or as directed by the HMIS BTR.

Service requests will be received from the BTR based on the service required, below. The time shown in parentheses is the estimated duration needed to complete the task.

The NEC Inspector will provide the listed deliverables to the HMIS AHJ, BTR, and Requestor.

1. Field Inspection – 1 Visit (2 hours)
• Inspect small scope modifications – e.g. additional receptacles, single room lighting modifications, HVAC modifications, etc.
• Deliverables: EIP

2. Field Inspection – 2 Visit (6 hours)
• Inspect medium scale modifications and small new facilities. Includes cover inspection and final approval - e.g. New mobile office, new parking lot with lights, addition to existing facility
• Deliverables: EIP

3. Field Inspection – 3 Visit (10 hours)
• Inspect large scale modifications and medium new facilities. Includes design review, cover inspection, and final approval – e.g. new water process systems, new facility with generator, new office building
• Deliverables: Design Review Report, EIP

4. Major Project/Facility (>10 hours)
• Required hours will be provided by the BTR. BTR will provide approved Kinetic Service Request (KSR) for the required hours.
• Deliverables: Design Review Report, EIP

5. Design Review – (3 hours)
• Provide NEC compliance review of drawings, (ex. 6 electrical drawings). (duplicate request for more drawings if more time is needed)
• Deliverables: Design Review Report

6. Planning/Design Field Support – 1 Visit (2 hours)
• Attend walk down with planner/engineering to review prior to construction and answer NEC compliance related questions.
• Deliverables: Walk-Down Report

7. Re-inspect – (2 hours)
• Additional service request if the NEC inspection is failed and a re-inspection is required.
• Deliverables: EIP
