Job Summary:

The CAD Technician is responsible for creating or editing CAD drawings for the permitting of highways, Department of Transportation, ROW Exhibits, Utility Relocation Sheets and Railroads using Bentley MicroStation CAD and/or AutoDesk AutoCad software. This is to be accomplished while maintaining full compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local rules and regulations and company-established standards. The CAD Technician must be able to complete drawings within specified timelines and communicate with permitting specialists on specifications to complete drawings within the parameters of the unique entities with which we work.


Create CAD drawings within the specified timeline per priorities communicated by management.
Create drawings based on specified parameters communicated by entity.
Provide revisions when needed due to changes in the field or design changes.
Communicate with clients, project managers and project teams via email or phone regularly throughout the design process.
Complete tracking report on drawings accomplished.
Utilize design standards and think creatively to suggest improvements with styles and templates.
Work efficiently to meet project timelines while maintaining QA/QC.


Associates Degree or 2+ years’ experience in a CAD operator position.
2+ years’ experience using Bentley MicroStation.
1+ years of experience in an CAD environment. (Candidate will need to provide background in a previously held auto CAD position. Candidate may be required to pass testing in a CAD skill assessment and complete an oral interview.)
Experience with AutoCad, Bluebeam and Revit, preferred.
Familiarity with project specifications including previous experience interpreting and/or preparing construction documents.
Strong communication skills to support working independently or as part of a project team.
Acute attention to detail with ability to recognize engineering plan discrepancies.
Ability to manage time and multi-task on multiple priorities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work extended hours if needed to meet deadlines.
