Perform Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene duties to include but not limited to program management duties, hazard analysis, which includes anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling occupational safety and industrial hygiene hazards in the workplace.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in facility work planning and recommend control practices to ensure compliance with applicable DOE orders and regulations (OSHA) related to the control of potential worker Injury or illness.
Monitor the conduct of work to ensure specified controls are effective in preventing or limiting potential for worker injury due to hazardous substances or conditions.
Investigate issues alleging potentially hazardous working conditions, participate in Occupational Safety program development and implementation for compliance of applicable DOE orders and regulations (OSHA), conduct walkdowns and participate in preplanning of work as needed to ensure that hazards and mitigation actions are identified.
Perform duties for injury/illness recordkeeping and workers compensation administration.
Knowledgeable of OSHA 1910 and 1926, NFPA 70E and 10 CFR 851 Safety programs and implementation.

Qualifications and Experience

Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Prior Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygienist experience at a DOE site is preferred.
Prior SRS training and experience to include HAZWOPER, hazardous energy control, excavation safety, rigging, scaffold safety and Radworker is preferred.
Operational knowledge of Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene, with minimum 5-year practical experience in hazards analysis, mitigation of hazards, conducting safety inspections in industrial and field settings, exposure monitoring (including OSHA requirements and NIOSH sampling and analysis methods), as well as ANSI and related standards.
Experience in solid waste management, environmental remediation and/or D&D work activities
Must be conversant in hazards analysis, the actions needed to mitigate hazards as well as personal protective equipment needed for various field activities.
Ability to identify and evaluate a variety of occupational hazards and chemical exposures, utilizing a variety of resources (electronic, print) to determine applicable limits and implement control schemes that focus on application of the hierarchy of controls (hazard elimination, engineered controls, administrative controls and personal protective equipment) to protect the workforce.
Must have knowledge of OSHA Injury/Illness Record Keeping and Workers Compensation administration
Must have computer skills to support these activities and necessary documentation are required.


BS Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field, from an accredited program or equivalent education, training and experience.
