Provides support to more experienced construction engineering personnel by performing routine construction engineering assignments at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Assigned to a discipline position within the Construction Management Division in an administrative or technical capacity. Completes assigned tasks under routine supervision and technical directions.
Knowledge is normally acquired through: a recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline or specialized courses in engineering disciplines, and/or 5 years actual work experience and certifications leading to the thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.

What You Will Do
Contribute to a dynamic team of facility engineering professionals that provide engineering solutions across a wide variety of buildings at one of the most important research facilities in the world. Los Alamos National Laboratory is looking for an enthusiastic junior-level field engineers with an interest in building systems and infrastructure to work in the Engineering Services. This posting is for multiple Field Engineering positions within the following disciplines: Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls, Mechanical, Pressure Safety, Welding, Fire Protection, Civil, and Structural.

Engineering Technologist 2: Recognized degree in Eng. Or Sci. discipline
The Field Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the technical aspects of construction and maintenance projects are in full conformance with approved document and contractual documents by monitoring facility maintenance and construction activities. This is accomplished by ensuring that baseline documents are accurate, design documents are adhered to, and as-built configurations are verified. Field Engineers expedite project execution through identifying issues, coordinating technical solutions, and providing timely guidance through approved policies and procedures. Will be responsible in leading all aspects of the Engineering Technologist 1 position.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to oversee, develop, and/or enforce adherence to Contract Documents consisting of drawings and specifications to define changes to buildings and infrastructure.

Proven ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel. Including preparing Field Change Requests and daily progress reports and keeping supervisors properly informed on the progress of all assigned tasks

Skilled at preparing field material purchase requisitions through material take-off, including estimating the quantities and assuring compliance with design specifications and drawings.

Experienced reviewing: Work Packages and Work Instructions for completeness; project design; and engineering documents to ensure their completeness and constructability;

Experienced in inspecting construction work for compliance with drawings, specifications and national codes and standards; and performing witness testing, interpretation of design drawings and specifications, and closeout requirements.

Demonstrated ability to independently lead all activities listed above.

Experienced working independently on tasks ranging in complexity.

Education/Experience: 9 years experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge of DOE and LANL Engineering Standards and Conduct of Engineering principals and procedures.

Fundamental knowledge of engineering and construction techniques, applications of engineering and construction methods, and application of technology and tools to conventional facility operation and cons
