United Engineers & Constructors, Inc (UECI) is a full-service provider of engineering services for Electric Utilities, Power Generating Stations and Industrial Facilities. To support our growing business in these areas, we are looking for a Wiring Designer with strong technical and interpersonal skills to work on complex and challenging projects supporting the Fermi Nuclear Power Plant in Newport, MI.
Associate Degree in Electrical or CADD Technology, or equal
6 years overall experience in wiring design of electrical or control systems for power plants or heavy industrial
3 years of experience using CADD software to prepare/revise complex electrical wiring drawings
2 years reviewing vendor wiring diagrams
Must be have the ability to obtain unescorted access to a U.S. Nuclear Power Plant
Work will include engineering of revisions to existing plant control systems and process instrumentation.
Complete complex engineering assignments including preparation of work packages including DCS specifications, instrument data sheets, calculations, and modifications to existing plant drawings;
Provide support to proposals, prepare purchase requisitions;
Review vendor drawings and develop cost and budget estimates, schedules and scope of work documents.
Candidate will attend client meetings and perform site walkdowns with the support of senior engineers to ensure the client is satisfied with our work product.
Experience to include:
Preparation of single line diagrams and panel schedules
Preparation of schematic diagrams for medium and low voltage motors
Preparation of interconnection wiring diagrams for plant control systems, distribution equipment and plant/process equipment including field instruments and skids, and PLCs or Distributed Control Systems
Preparation of control panel arrangement drawings and internal wiring diagrams
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel
Must have strong skills in the following areas:
Written and oral communications skills
Ability to prioritize and organize work in a multi-tasked environment
Experience in wiring design for power generating stations
Field experience / Walk-downs on power projects
Experience preparing design documents for modification packages for operating Nuclear power plants in the U.S
