Senior Mechanical Balance of Plant Engineer
Duration: 12 months
Location: Remote based
Role Summary / Purpose
Mechanical BOP Engineer to contributes to the team responsible for the development of Mechanical
BOP Engineering activities in support the New Plants Engineering projects. The Mechanical BOP
Engineering will perform activities within a team environment, working with a global team of partner
organizations and suppliers to successfully deliver New Nuclear Plant Projects.
Provide system design deliverables which include system design specifications, piping and instrument diagrams, logic diagrams, process flow calculations and diagrams, hydraulic resistance calculations, equipment sizing, and FMEA evaluations.
Prepare systems documentation using the designated requirements management tool
Lead and conduct design analyses, evaluations, and verifications for various BWR BOP systems
Apply engineering knowledge and practical experience to the analysis, investigation, and solution of complex design problems and application issues
Develop drawings and specifications to assure products can reliably meet all engineering and quality requirements
Work proactively with existing BWR product line and quality personnel through process procedure approvals, process qualification approvals, and non-conforming material disposition.
Provide on-time, quality delivery of equipment packages and engineering documentation in
accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
Manage project work schedules and priorities
Work within a team environment to execute work plans within budget and schedule
Support mechanical BOP systems design and/or equipment construction activities, respond to vendor questions and deviation requests; review and approve vendor document submittals
Have other duties as assigned by Manager
Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, partners, licensing, the NRC and international regulatory authorities on technical issues
Incorporate design requirements into analyses and design documents
Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and
Manage the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned systems using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Qualifications / Requirements
Masters Degree or greater in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or University.
Minimum 8 years of experience in a technology or engineering role.
Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience
Strong knowledge of fundamental engineering principles, BWR core/fuel material behavior, and
mechanical or structural design fundamentals
Strong communication and writing skills and capable of articulating specific technical topics or
Working knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000)
Strong analytical capabilities, problem solving and process skills
Honest and straightforward with a high level of personal integrity.
Detail-oriented and accountable for results.
Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative environment
