Wisconsin based NRC Approved Construction Project Test Engineer

SHINE is seeking a Test Engineer who will be responsible for the development and execution of test plans for custom neutron generator products. Test engineers lead electro-mechanical and software acceptance testing of prototype productions and are responsible for product validation. Test engineers are the primary operators of first of a kind systems and lead the development of documentation for safe operation. The Test Engineer establishes a commissioning plan (activities and sequence) to validate the assembly and operation of SHINE products against design intent and customer requirements. They also develop test procedures for components, sub-assemblies, and systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate SHINE accelerator systems
Exercise prototype systems, establish system operating conditions and modes
Establish acceptance criteria for mechanical, electrical and controls design
Develop detailed manufacturing acceptance test procedures in collaboration with design engineering teams
Perform acceptance testing on completed assemblies against design intent
Work closely with Project Management, Systems, Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Engineering teams to transition projects from design into build and test phases
Develop detailed system integration plan and test procedures
Develop system commissioning approach and timeline to achieve factory acceptance in alignment with customer milestones
Develop detailed factory acceptance procedures for requirements validation
Lead the development of documentation for safe operation of first of a kind systems
Participate in design reviews and provide practical feedback from system testing to influence future designs
Troubleshoot prototype systems in close collaboration with R&D and Design Engineering teams
Analyze, debug, and repair components and assemblies
Develop new processes and documentation to support testing and assembly as needed
Test and verify components and assemblies using electrical testing and/or precision measurement equipment
Perform I/O checks, troubleshoot and repair problems found during testing
Maintain required production records and provide feedback
Support assembly technicians as needed
Assist with device commissioning, service and training of operators at customer sites
Perform job duties with minimal instruction or supervision

BS in Mechanical, Nuclear or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Independent worker with excellent communication skills
Proficiency in data analysis including Diadem, MS Excel or Python
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Experience creating test procedures, assembly documentation and developing processes
Experience troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems
Experience with high vacuum systems
Experience with plasma sources and ion beam
Experience with standard hand and machine tools
Experience with basic electrical tools including DMM, oscilloscope and soldering
Experience with Labview preferred
Experience working with cross-functional technical teams preferred
Experience with new product development, prototype and R&D preferred
Desire to learn innovative technologies and concepts
Flexibility to work various shifts preferred
Flexibility for travel up to 25% preferred
