Physical Security Specialist

Roles and responsibilities:
The Physical Security Specialist Job Family provides security services and technical assistance to assigned project, jobsite, office, or functional/services activities. Assists in managing protection programs and complying with specific governmental standards and/or regulatory requirements. Assists in developing and providing security master plans, security criteria, and technical information to assigned project, jobsite, office, or functional unit. Liaises with and maintains an effective working relationship with assigned projects. Helps advise Security and project management concerning security program progress, problem areas, and remedial actions
• .Performs the full range of security functions such as inspections, identification of vulnerabilities, and assessment of risks
• . Reviews security project designs and conducts onsite progress assessments to ensure design specifications meet security needs.
• Performs security risk assessments based on vulnerability criteria to determine appropriate levels of protection and security necessary for the site/facility.
• Demonstrates good communication skills by sending complete, clear and concise incident reports as soon as practical after an incident occurs.
• Evaluates all security related incidents and takes appropriate action to prevent recurrence.
• Ensures adherence to company policies, procedures, and related local government laws and regulations • Helps conduct security surveys and audits to ensure compliance with security programs; helps identify and report discrepancies and recommends corrective action through appropriate reporting relationship. Informs immediate supervisors of the status of the security program and problem areas and provides recommendations for remedial action.
• Assists in the implementation of company procedures for guarding internal security data to meet the standards and regulatory requirements specified by government contracts.
• Helps administer security activities related to securing and controlling UCOR and client proprietary information, including maintenance of security-related logs, registers, files, records, and reports.
• Assists with the preparation and distribution of security plans, reports, studies and surveys, as requested. Assists in preparing and coordinating emergency planning, programs, and procedures with project, jobsite, or office management.
• Assists project teams in incorporating security technology and measures into the design and construction of facilities by identifying and interpreting specific standards and regulatory requirements pertaining to the project(s); reviews architectural drawings to ensure that effective security is provided and that specific standards and regulatory requirements are met.
• Assists in the investigation of questionable activities, identify violations, and recommends corrective action through responsible supervision.
• Participate in internal assessments, independent assessments, performance tests, safeguards and security surveys,

Required Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree (security-related preferred), with 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• With an Associate’s degree, 9 years of related experience is required, or
• With a High School Diploma, 13 years of related experience is required.
• Active DOE Q clearance.

Required Skills:
• Must have practical experience and be proficient in software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and MS Outlook.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
