[Mechanical Engineer] FELLOW ENGINEER/VENTILATION DESIGN ENGINEER - AIKEN, SC

DUTIES Provide Design Authority Engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS.

Primary responsibilities include:
Establishing Technical Requirements by developing System Design Descriptions (SDD) and reviewing design packages from design agencies.
Provide agencies with technical input on design changes required during design phases.
Planning, Walkdowns and Construction Support as requested to assure that equipment and material meet the specification requirements.
Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering

Experience/Skills:
Candidate must demonstrate twenty-five (25) years of Mechanical Engineering experience(within the last 30 years) in the nuclear or chemical process industry
Possess a strong working knowledge of HVAC & ventilation structures, systems, and components.
Candidate must have experience analyzing and evaluating ventilation system performance for improvement opportunities.
Candidate must have experience in troubleshooting system deficiencies to recommend resolution.
Candidate must have experience in analyzing electrical instrumentation & control requirements.
Candidate must be able to walk down systems in the field and support nonconformance issues in real time.
Knowledge of HVAC modelling software/systems is required.
Previous SRS Engineering experience is preferred
DOE facility experience
Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Q facility clearance

Work Hours:
A forty (40) hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Workweek excludes SRNS holidays. SRNS Management will determine best schedule depending on work needs. Each workday has a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Area Security Access:
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance. Supplier shall possess a positive FOCI determination from DOE which includes Q security clearance level. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments. Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two years are preferred.

Education
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering

Experience/Skills
Client Engineering or DOE facility experience
Fifteen (15) years of Mechanical Engineering experience (within the last 20 years) in the nuclear or chemical process industry
Working knowledge of HVAC & ventilation structures, systems, and components
Experience analyzing and evaluating ventilation system performance for improvement opportunities
Experience in troubleshooting system deficiencies to recommend resolution
Experience in analyzing electrical instrumentation & control requirements
Able to walk down systems in the field and support nonconformance issues in real time
Knowledge of HVAC modelling software/systems
