Job Title: Engineering Manager
Location: Naperville, IL - onsite
Duration: Contract to Hire/ Direct Hire

Due to continued growth, our Nuclear Service Group is seeking an Engineering Manager for our Naperville, IL location.
Responsibilities (including but are not limited to)
Ensure the Engineering Unit staff maintains schedules, budgets, and quality of deliverables.
Work with Project Managers to define the scope of work. Direct/assign work to the Engineering Unit to balance activities.
Maintain responsibility for the Unit’s quality; establish and enforce quality standards for the Unit through the Work Group Leads and Supervisors.
Maintain, update, and execute Unit Continuous Improvement Plans.
Accountable for ensuring project budget and schedule are met for Unit’s assigned projects.
Responsible for the approval of engineering documents produced by the Unit.
Business Development – Aggressively support marketing efforts.
Lead proposal preparation with input from discipline supervisors for scope and budget to Project Managers.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with client counterparts.
Assist with development and execution of business plan development and implementation, market assessment and planning, contract negotiation, product and service development.
Recruit, hire, develop and retain staff.
Identify and promote opportunities for site work. Identify and promote training opportunities (ex: owner’s groups, manufacturer, professional society).
Utilize the review/approval process of deliverables as technical training opportunity for staff.
Provide timely and appropriate performance feedback and coaching.
Promote professional development (ex: professional license, certifications, and client qualifications). Support, follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
Identify and develop future leaders of the organization.
Demonstrate technical leadership, providing resolution to technical issues either through own knowledge or by coordination with Subject Matter Expert.
Drive continuous improvement in the organization utilizing the lessons learned and corrective action programs.
Contribution to Business Goals – Meets applied time goals for self; in addition, ensures that his/her staff meets their applied time goals.
Required Qualifications/ skills
BS Degree in Engineering required and 10+ years of engineering experience in the Nuclear Power Industry
Significant technical expertise in one or more broad areas of engineering
Knowledge of applicable government codes and industry standards
Excellent organizational, time management, strategic planning, writing, communication, decision-making, and presentation skills
Experience working in a Nuclear Power Plant environment and familiarity with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and industry (AMSE, IEEE, ACI, AWS, etc.) codes and standards.
Excellent verbal communication skills; Comfortable and effective communicator with staff, clients (internal and external), management, etc., choosing the right mode of communication for the situation and relaying the right message.
Strong technical writing, attention to detail, and human performance skills.
Strong coordination and team-building skills; demonstrated ability to work across disciplines, divisions, and teams. Ability to assess and understand team strengths and weaknesses and adjust level of support/oversight as appropriate.
Ability to motivate team members and achieve goals through positive, winning attitude and effective leadership style which is consistent with ENERCON’s Defining Excellence fundamentals.
Problem-solving and general scientific evaluation skills.
Ability to gain and maintain unescorted access at nuclear sites.
Required to travel up to 25+% of the time to client sites (expected to travel at least one time per month) for project and/or marketing meetings. Also, required to travel between Overland Park, KS, Naperville, Ill, and varied NE U.S. locations.
Preferred Qualifications/ skills
MS Degree preferred
PE License strongly preferred
