[Environmental Technician] Environmental Tec 3 - LANL - 6319

Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for an Environmental Technician 3 opportunity for our customer in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Ability to effectively communicate, interact, and work with internal customers and with Federal, State, and local agencies and to deal effectively with the public.
Basic knowledge of and experience with handling, characterizing, packaging, and/or transporting solid, liquid, hazardous, radioactive, and/or mixed wastes.
Working knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to the handling and management of solid, liquid, hazardous, radioactive, and/or mixed wastes.
Experience and demonstrated skill in supporting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting waste management.
Basic skill to conceptualize and communicate major elements of waste management processes, policies, and procedures to technical and non-technical personnel.


Position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
At this level a minimum of 2 years previous experience gained through training in a specific field of hazardous material or waste management would be expected.
This position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities. This DOE Order establishes entry-level requirements to ensure employees in the positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge of Laboratory organizational structure, technical areas, and facilities.
Knowledge of the Laboratory's waste management policies, practices, and procedures.
Experience working in technical and programmatic organizations specializing in the implementation of Department of Energy regulations.
Experience supporting the cradle to grave management and disposition of non-hazardous, hazardous, chemical, and radioactive wastes.
