[Structural Engineer] Structural Design Engineer - DOE Project - Houston, TX - 6509

Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for Structural Design Engineer opportunities for our customer in Greenville, SC and Houston, TX to support a DOE Construction Design Project.

Remote opportunities will be considered. Onsite preferred.
Per diem available for those who qualify.
Must be a U.S. Citizen

Structural Design Engineer

Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and coordinate structural engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects.
Prepare and review of calculations, drawings, and specifications relating to seismic and wind analyses, foundation design, structural framing analyses and design, and bracing analyses and design.
May conduct construction document reviews, as required.
May provide technical direction to assigned engineers.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering with 5 to 15+ years’ experience (nuclear preferred) in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, and related phases of engineering. Professional Engineer License preferred but not required.

Experience

Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to structural engineering design.
Candidates must be able to generate loadings, build analysis models, both finite element and element models, run those analysis models, interpret results from those analysis and can post process the data either via Access databases or Excel spreadsheets.
Furthermore, they need to possess the ability to generate hand calculations in Mathcad.
Have exposure or familiarity with Nuclear Codes for both Steel and Concrete. There is a mix of heavy concrete design and steel on this project, approximately 70% concrete 30% steel at this time.
Steady State Dynamic Analysis experience desired.
Familiarity with computer aided drafting applications is required.
Experience in renovating/modifying existing facilities is required for senior level candidates.
