Lab technician

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Prepare and conduct toxicity tests using zooplankton and fish following EPA protocols on schedule
Maintain and monitor laboratory cultures (phytoplankton, zooplankton, fish, and bivalves).
Acid wash glassware, prepare culture media, and other tasks related to general lab maintenance.
Counting algae and zooplankton and taking general biometric measurements (length, weight, etc.)
Data entry, QA, and analysis
Maintain detailed lab notes
Assist with report preparation to meet required deadlines
Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements.
Maintain a strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics.
Required Qualifications:

BA or BS in ecology, environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, or a related field is desired; Associates Degree in a related field with experience will also be considered
3+ years of related experience
Experience working in a laboratory.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary research team.
Attention to detail
Toxicity testing will occasionally require work on weekends. Flexibility to work on weekends is needed.
