Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Craft Superintendent (Technical Support Specialist 5) opportunity for our customer in Aiken, SC to support the Savannah River Site.

The purpose of this position is to provide support to National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Capital Projects for construction project management with the Savannah River Site (SRS). This support is in the form of construction expertise specializing in work production planning. The Senior Craft Superintendent will provide management of all aspects of construction projects critical to SRNS operations. Subcontractor will use industry leading hardware and software technologies to achieve the constructability goals of the project. Working with other functional groups such as engineering, planning, procurement, and construction to review and recommend specific planning actions.

The Senior Craft Superintendent will manage all aspects of construction projects and maintenance activities on multiple complex multi-million-dollar projects critical to SRNS operations. Responsible for a variety of less significant projects managed by qualified project managers from conceptual design to completion with primary responsibility for safety.


Take the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition.
Manage the physical construction of all assigned projects and assigned maintenance orders ensuring that each job is completed safely, within cost and schedule requirements.
Obtain and assign non-exempt personnel to each job, optimize manpower, and provide leadership by setting and maintaining goals, priorities, standards of performance.
Ensure that construction efficiency is optimized by providing construction input and involvement in projects throughout the conceptual design phases and design, construction turnover and the completion phases of each project.
Provide input on construction strategies, design reviews, cost and schedule guidance and other opportunities as the project progresses.
Establish and control costs, schedule, and technical baselines and provide effective management of project.
Conduct highly complex analysis of problems involving construction activities.
Develop new and innovative alternative action strategies enabling the early achievement of milestones.
Provide EARLY input into the project planning, design, procurement, and field operations to achieve the optimum Total Installed Cost (TIC) of a project through use of construction knowledge, experience, and new technologies.
Experience / Skills

Performed work with Engineering and Procurement to assure the incorporation of plans, constructability items and review comments into design documents, purchase orders and subcontracts before issuance to construction, vendors, and subcontractors.
Reviewed, evaluated, recommended, and provided input (for final approval by the Construction Manager) typical front-end construction planning items.
Previous experience tied to the MOX project.
Performed estimates on the number and classification of construction personnel that will be required for the duration of the project; prepare initial staffing curves with Project Controls assistance.
Assisted in the development of a labor strategy and have significant experience with managing union craftsmen.
Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. Subcontractor must work all 40 hours onsite except at SRNS's discretion may be permitted to work remotely. A set schedule on workdays/hours will be determined upon subcontractor’s arrival; preferred options are either 5 8-hour days or existing site schedule on AA shift (9-hour days, every other Friday off, Fridays worked is an 8-hour day). Each workday has a 30-minute unpaid lunch

Area Security Clearance:
An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. Subcontract personnel must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. After award, the selected uncleared candidate may be required to apply for a DOE clearance.
