[Buyer] Procurement Specialist I - Buyer - Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory- Princeton, NJ (Remote)

The Procurement Specialist I is responsible for cradle-to-grave subcontract administration of commercial and
non-commercial “low” risk acquisitions related to PPPL services and research.
- Utilizes independent problem-solving techniques and skills, including managing procurement requestor
meetings to minimize procurement risk and promote the value of the procurement process
- Supports acquisition pre-award support, including SOWs, Acquisition Strategy Support, Cost Estimates, Market
Research, RFPs/RFQs, Source Selection, and other miscellaneous pre-award documentation
- Awards subcontracts and purchase orders and administers cost-type subcontracts
- Purchasing Card (P-Card) program
- Seeks quality goods/services at fair and reasonable prices to meet the Laboratory’s needs
- Manages supplier relationships
- Negotiates and awards subcontracts and purchase orders
- Maintains excellent file documentation, standard format, and record retention consistent with PPPL Procurement
manual for all procurements
- Engages in post-award administration
The Procurement Specialist I participates in special projects as assigned by the Chief Procurement Officer and
assumes the authority fully commensurate with assigned duties and responsibilities.

Education/Experience:
1. Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience as a Subcontracts Administrator (cradle to grave) in a Federal or State
government purchasing/procurement environment
2. Knowledge of federally funded procurements, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR),
Department of Energy Acquisition Regulations (DEAR), and Uniform Commercial Code is
required.
3. Experience with Federal procurement process and file documentation to include market research, source
selection and price analysis.
4. Experience in a Federal Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) Environment
5. Knowledge of computer-based procurement systems (Oracle); demonstrated skills using various software
6. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and other office productivity tools
7. Other strongly desired skills and traits include: Excellent verbal and written communication;
attention to detail, results-oriented, self-motivated, independent decision-making and problem-solving,
negotiation skills, and outstanding prioritization and multi-tasking skills.
8. High ethical standards representative of Princeton University’s commitment to excellence are necessary.
9. This position requires occasional reaching, stooping and lifting of office files, reports and records,
typically weighing 5 pounds or less. Reasonable accommodations will be considered which would allow
