[Electrical Engineer] Engineer 4 (Electrical) - LANL - 8032

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Engineer 4 (Electrical) opportunity in Los Alamos, NM at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Per Diem: Per diem available for those who qualify
Citizenship: United States Citizenship is required
Work Location: 100% Onsite
Work Schedule: 9/80’s and 4-10s at manager’s discretion. Assistance on weekends when urgent.
Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain Q Clearance

Education:
BS degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university and 12 years of related experience.

Desired Technical Skills:
NEC (NFPA 70 and 70E) knowledge and application for Power Distribution Design
Engineering Judgement applied to field change requests
Instrumentations and Controls Experience.
MS Office, Excel, Word, Vizio, etc. (Desired: MathCAD, AutoCAD, SKM)
EIT Certification and/or PE Certification

Engineer 3
Within this job, successful candidates will have to opportunity to support the Laboratory’s mission by serving as the subject matter expert for nuclear facility electrical engineering matters, including all aspects of electrical safety, power quality, power monitoring, and critical power reliability/redundancy issues. Often in this role, engineers will perform engineering studies including short circuits, device coordination, equipment sizing, exterior lighting, fault current, and arc flash for both medium and low-voltage equipment. Electrical Engineers in this position will work alongside junior engineers (e.g., fire protection, structural, mechanical, and electrical) and other senior engineers in team settings to complete collaborative full-system design solutions through mentoring, calculations, and leadership.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Recognized broad and/or unique expert knowledge of new and existing non-reactor/nuclear facility electrical engineering systems and calculations, applications of engineering methods, and application of computer-aided engineering tools to solve operations-based engineering problems.
Expert knowledge of engineering work, planning, construction, and control methods.
Expert knowledge of industry, regulatory, or national codes and standards including IBC, NEC, IEEE, and NFPA 70E.
Expert knowledge of Engineering principles and procedures, design guides, appropriate standards, and administrative practices.
Expert knowledge of project and process engineering practices.
