Education
Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with specialized technical training.

Experience / Skills
Minimum 10 years in supporting commercial or federal science, nuclear engineering or other task relevant programs or projects.
Demonstrate a sound base of technical knowledge of safety and health regulations, standards, concepts, practices, principles, and techniques.
Experience conducting safety inspections in the industrial and field settings.
Experience in hazard analysis processes and related documentation.
Experience in reviewing and implementing OSHA standards and other health and safety documents.
Ability to identify and quantify potential hazards/exposures.
Experience determining applicable limits and implementing control schemes that protect the work force.
ABIH certified - Understands and applies advanced IH theories, concepts, and art, working knowledge of related disciplines.
Certified Industrial Hygienist by the American Board of Industrial Hygienists in comprehensive practice or specialty area preferred and may decrease experience requirement by two years.
Certification as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Ergonomist.
Minimum of 5 years in a management role.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.

DUTIES
Perform conventional practices of industrial hygiene (the science and art devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of those environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace that may cause sickness, impaired health and well-being, or significant discomfort and inefficiency among workers) in an operational facility. This position may work closely with more senior safety and health staff while performing their roles.
The primary focus of these support efforts will be to assist in the development, preparation and operation of the safety processes associated with NNSA Capital Projects. SRNS will draw on the support personnels experience and expertise. Personnel must ensure inclusion of all necessary health and safety program needs related to program materials, hazardous materials, occupational injury/illnesses, and OSHA regulations. Technical responsibility for implementation of an Industrial Hygiene (IH) Program within operating organizations/facilities. Perform conventional and increasingly complex practices of IH by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling environmental factors or stresses in the workplace. Cooperate with other Industrial Hygienists performing related phases of the program.
Accept the delegated technical responsibility for design, application, test or the preparation of specifications for systems, materials, equipment, components, or the review of any of same. Perform assessments of work exposures; designs and conducts exposure monitoring strategies. Apply technical knowledge toward the reduction of cost and improvement of the processes where possible. Incorporate new ideas resulting from progress in the field of industrial hygiene. Prepare technical reports and procedures. Develop practical, implementable policy when new and emergent issues occur; seeks programmatic review and approval.

Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules, including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. Work hours in excess of forty hours a week may be required, as authorized by SRNS management.

Area Security Access:
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance. Supplier shall possess a positive FOCI determination from DOE which includes Q security clearance level. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments. Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two years are preferred.
